|Jeepzcb09||A jeep is never gonna ride like a cadilac, i dont care what shocks you put on it. I dont know why you people get so hung up on shocks, or how it rides. Rough Country has outstanding customer service!! And there higher doller kits are great, which is why im getting the 4in "X" kit here in a few weeks, evything is adjustable ,(all 8 adj. CA's, front ADJ.track bar,etc.), well made and looks pretty beefy,and the kit has great reviews for on and offroad. Everyone is always buzzing about RE, when the truth is my buddys RC standerd lift, rides just as good as another friends RE, and the RC is older and has been through hell and back, after that abuse i cannot wait to get my RC"X" kit on my jeep. I just think RE is alot of hype, sorry if that was over the top,lol|

I have not seen RC's new long-arm but my personal opinion is that their standard lifts just never impressed me as being more than an entry-level kit. For example, the control arms that come in their 4" suspension lift only have bushings at both ends which means they don't twist or flex well. Arms with unflexible bushings like that on both ends of the control arm can, on a more difficult trail, place ENORMOUS stress on the control arm mounts which can literally tear them away from where they are welded in place. Such a design is fine for street or very (!) mild trails but once you get into tougher trails, that shortcoming becomes an issue.
I ran Tera's control arms that had similar bushings at both ends and twice they ripped the control arm brackets off the axle. I couldn't get rid of those control arms fast enough. Again, that design is fine for gentle offroad trails and street use but it's not up to tougher trails where the axles need to flex independently to adequately follow the terrain to minimize the tires lifting up into the air.
Better is a control arm with some type of a cartridge type of flex joint at at least one to allow the control arm to flex more easily so the axle can move around more easily without overstressing the control arm mounts.
So if your Jeep is primarily for the street or it is really just for exploring the back country on fire roads, such kits are fine. Beyond that they have their limitations.
Of course all of this is simply my personal opinion which that combined with $2 may be enough to buy a cup of coffee at McDonalds.

Hey jerry I know I was not a big fan of rough country lifts either. I wheeled with the rough country guys this past weekend and let me tell you I was impressed by there new long arm kit. I can honestly say it is better built then the RE long arm jeep that was next to it. The rough country kit road awesome, flexed awesome. I have since then been looking at there upgrade long arm kit for 900 bucks.
To the better built- I dunno if the rough country guys (spiced up there lift) for everybody to see or not either. I am not trying to pick battles by saying that, I talked to those guys they answered all my questions. We played follow the lead and that thing did some cool stuff

|Jerry Bransford||I am no fan of Rough Country lifts, there are better alternatives in my personal opinion. They can't even seem to manage to provide a shock that doesn't ride too stiffly. They bragged their latest 2.2 shock would ride much better but even it gets complaints about its stiff ride and they're now promising again a better riding shock is coming out soon. "Rough" Country is right.|

|blainejr||Jeep TJ Suspension Lift, i was looking at their2.5" lift till i seen this one, for $70 over the 2.5" lift you get another 3/4" and sway bar links and rear track bar braket. this one makes a lil more sense.|

|TJNewbie||If you're not going any bigger than 33x10.5's a 2" or 2.5" Budget Boost Lift (BBL) & a 1" Body Lift, and a 1" Motor Mount Lift (MML) is what most people go with. It clears the 33's nicely, it'll give a good ride, it cost alot less, & the MML will take care of any drive shaft vibe problems. I would have a front alignment check done afterwards. the BBL runs from $54 to $110 with out shocks. the 1" body lift goes for $60 to $140 & up. & the MML usually runs around $75 to $100. It just depends on what you prefer. just make sure the kits come with all the hardware and, stops on the BBL.|

Rough country lifts
I'm going to need to get about a 3 inch lift
once I get my 33x10.5 tires. I heard that rough country lifts have positives and negatives. I've read that they can be good for offroading, etc. But very bad or mileage and for driving. Anyone know any info about the rough country lifts? I was thinking about getting a rough country lift
