StarBrite Looks good, Paul! We have the same CB!
08-17-2014 03:12 PM
Argent alright so I finished the install up this afternoon for the most part - the external speaker I just tossed under my seat for now until I can figure out where to run it, and I still need to take it out someplace wide open and tune it properly.

ran the wires up through the hole in the passenger side

came out and around and directly to the battery with inline fuses on both the positive and the ground

and it's aliiiiiiiive!

042 Nice clean install on the CB! I know some folks carve out the padding around the roll bar above the driver's left shoulder and hide a speaker in there. To avoid problems with power run a line from the battery; it will save you headaches later. There is a good grounding location in the driver's side footwell, no need to run it from the battery. Also make sure you have a good solid ground for your antenna or more headaches

Argent So I started my CB install yesterday.....only got about halfway thought...

still need to figure out how I'm going to run power and also where to mount and run the external speaker

StarBrite Wow! That sounds like some SERIOUS rain, Paul!

Nice parking job, too!

Argent Hehe thanks - haven't often found the opportunity to park near several other Jeeps yet...there was an empty spot between them that just seemed to call out for me to park there!

Thanks Turchman!

So yesterday we experienced 5-6" of rain in a few hours - made for lots of flooding roads - got to test my Jeeps water fording abilities...unfortunately I didn't think to run my phone as a dash cam through the deeper bits (I had water flowing up over my hood because of my momentum at one point) but I did snap this.

on my way to BW3's for dinner....when I got there I found the Jeep parking

and when I got home I gave the Jeep a once over to make sure the water didn't do anything bad and noticed my grille mesh apparently acts like a strainer!

crappy? no probably not really....it was one of my early purchases that I should have done more research on I guess...just much happier with the 2x2 cube LED's now (4 LED's vs 1 LED per fog) only thing is the Vision are direct plug n play with the fog wiring harness and the KOR LED's weren't (I wired them to my sPOD)

As far as the radio - no you can't do it yourself. The dealer has to add the XAC sales code to your VIN in Dealer Connect under Dealer Installed Options. Then they have to hook up the scantool to the Jeep and click Restore VIN (or something like that - which basically reflashes the Jeep with all the stuff Dealer Connect says your VIN has - which now also includes the backup camera option.) I'd say I was in and out of my dealership in about 10-15 minutes. But my situation isn't typical - I have a friend in the parts department (who can access Dealer connect) and a friend that's a tech. Had my buddy put the XAC code in my VIN earlier in the day before I stopped in for a flash - and it only cost me a case of beer to the tech to reflash it.

oh and thanks for the compliment - glad you're enjoying my build

Not sure, I guess I could check the connectors etc.... They seem dim compared to everything else now :P

If I did the math right - I've got just over 14000 lumens on the front....and sadly the headlights are the dimmest things wonder if there's something wrong with my Truck-Lites.....
07-28-2014 02:21 PM
Argent The color is different than the Truck-lites but closer to my LED bar...

still have some minor aiming to work out when it stops raining - but they are pretty bright!

Very nice Paul! I'm envious, the doors don't come off much here with my husband having to drive it to work. (It has to be all buttoned up to keep the ash out where they park.) Maybe next month when he gets a week off we'll get a chance to try it out without them.

We took the hard top off early last month and have been loving the ease of the soft top, and Mr. Melmichigan has gotten really good at handing over the keys when he gets home. I'm getting really quick at flipping back the SunRider and taking out the windows for my nightly drive. Everything is better when your driving a Jeep!

55*?!? I'll stick with my 95* in the shade for now. Colorado was cold enough to remind me I hate cold. LOL

Cart looks awesome, Paul! Congratulations!
