Iron Clad Lou hooks and pants hangers

OrangeJeepGuy I rolled mine up and left it attached to the roll bar brackets so it is easier to carry. I used two large velcro straps to keep it together. I then strapped it to my Racor Heavy Lift that my hard top hangs from in the summer. Also have a large box that is next to it for my windows and door surrounds. Lastly I used a thin fleece blanket to roll up my back window so there is no scratching.

Works well.

Home Made solution

They sell a soft top storage system on line for $159. That seemed steep so I built my own. It works great! I used wooden clamp style hangers for the windows with a towel placed between the windows so they don't scratch. The two bars in the center are for my front doors, when I have them off in the summer (the soft top is on the jeep, so not in the way). I added a shelf to store the small parts.

Everything came from Home Depot (except the hangers) for a fraction of the cost!!

I did something similar to this except my hooks also double as door hangers in the summer. I also grabbed a couple of those clip type plastic hangers my wife uses to hang up my shorts in the closet to hang the rear window so they don't get scratched or creased any worse than they already are.

Not the best picture but you get the idea. Soft top on one set of door hangers, door frame hardware and rear windows on the other set. Plus, everything is in one spot when it comes time to swap the soft top for the hard top in the spring.

dpostman This is a pic of my CB antenna but you can see in the background, My soft top is hanging from my harken hoist hard top lift. I put some plastic over it for dust and I don't think the rodents will get to it.

The windows are rolled up in towels and are sitting in a storage room in my basement.

Iron Clad Lou I put 2 hooks in the garage ceiling and used some rope to hold it up...I'll post pics tomorrow.

jdambm A couple of people posted in another storage thread to store it with bounce dryer sheets, and another with irish spring bar soap as a rodent deterrent. I had a brand new soft top get a couple small chew holes and a nest over winter last year while storing in my garage.

Michel347 I left it in our camping trailer with some fleecy sheets.

dukedallas $160 is a bit steep for that quadratec one, I could make that using those bicycle hangers for about $30...I see them at home deopt all the time. Just get the longer ones. And they come coated with rubber finish.

Lusus_Naturae ^ Looks ok - I would nail a soft $5 blanket to the wall so nothing rubs.

i dont think its shipping with a bracket that hold the '13+ unlimited softtop perfectly just yet but it will soon. Know the guy that sells these to qtec, its a nice product.

smitty141 Getting ready to do the same thing. Cleaned the top and windows today. I will give it a few days to dry. I think I will bring it inside, fold it nice and neat. Let it lay on top of a blanket, fold it over and slide it under a bed for the winter.

jcb-memphis Just got the dual top Jeep and have the windows hanging properly but left the soft top rolled as it came from the factory. Hope this is ok (it is out of the Jeep now).

TIA.

billarf Just be careful where you store it. Squirrels, field mice and such love to chew on the canvas. My gal friend has a mint, 1998 Sahara. She had me store her soft top in the shed out in the back yard this past Winter. I mentioned the squirrels/field mice possibly getting into the shed / possibly damaging the soft top and that I was very concerned and wanted to put a bunch of moth balls and poison in the shed to deter/kill the critters. She refused to allow me to do so as she is lets say pro critters. Long story short, the friggin critters last Winter ate 3/4 of her soft top. They did leave the metal frame untouched. Good thing gal friend likes her hard top.. ho, ho, ho. Anyone looking for an OEM soft top frame, surrounds and windows. (Windows were in the house and not eaten)

JKJeepit I built a big shelf the hangs off the ceiling and I put all the pieces on that and park the Jeep under it. works great, I put the windows there when there not on then the entire top there when it's not..

landi jeep I wouldn't worry about it creasing. A couple of days in the sun, it'll be good.

Best ways to store soft top during winter

I pulled the soft top off and put the hard top back on for the winter.

I'd love to hear some ideas on how others have stored their soft top until spring. I was thinking of hanging it on brackets from a wall but was concerned that it might crease or damage the fabric pinched between the hangers and frame bearing all the weight. Currently I have it wrapped up in a movers blanket in the front of the garage, but wasn't considering that to be a long term solution.

For those of you with two tops, what have you done?
