Schmo Like mentioned, if you are having trouble getting to that bolt, just unbolt the link from the frame and you should be able to move it to a place you can get to it. After some PB blaster, get a breaker bar and go to town. Worst case scenerio, you break the bolt or strip it out . . . a couple of bucks at any hardware store will have you back in action. Don't worry about it . . . you really can't mess anything up here that you can't easy fix.

AzTJ If not, unbolt it from the frame end and just swing the sway bar down.

koz555 yah thats it but i have a 2 1/2 in bl with 33 X 12.5 tires and the control arm is in the way. i have about 3 or 4 inchs between the control arm and the tire and i can get it to budge.. think i should just remove the back tires for easier access?

AzTJ Are you refering to the part that connects from the end of the sway bar to the frame?

If so, shoot it with some PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench and let it soak. You'll need a wrench on each side to take the bolt off.

swaybar advice..

i need some help with removing my rear swaybar on my 98 wrangler sahara. i needed to replace the bushings on the sway bar and i ordered some energy suspension bushing. my problem is that the old bushings that were on the swaybar had a slit in them so u could just slip them on by just removing the bolts and medal bracket. with my new ones i have to slide them down the sway bar and i cant get the bolts off the the little elbow part (sorry not sure of the correct termanolagy). any advice for removing the bolts off the elbow part on the sway bar? i dont wanna strip or break the bolts off. and i cant get the air gun to fit in there. thanks ahead of time for any advice. jerry if u get a chance , could u give me some tips.. thanks ahead of time.
