|doclouie||It depends on the Jeep. Sometimes you need to do something with the transfer case above 2" and sometimes you do not. I did a 2.25" bb and I needed to drop the case a little, but some people have not had to drop it. There is no hard fast rule.|

Ride-wise, it's not replacement springs that cause a stiffer ride. Shocks are the primary source of a good or bad ride. Shocks have the most to do with ride quality, followed by the tire pressure & load rating of the tires, and the springs in a very distant last place.

|adawg38||I went with a 2" BB new shocks and pucks. It's a stiff ride I was happy with the clearance gain and flex room in my wheel wells with my 31's. I took it on some good trails a few times and my Jeep did awesome. I've decided to jump up to 32's and and a 3.25" Lift from Rough Country to give me just a little extra. Nitro Shocks vs Hydros are a better ride and durability same with coils vs pucks. They say get what you want the first time so you don't have to do it twice and I agree. up to 2.5" of lift you should be ok with just shocks and coils but a 3" you will need a transfercase drop and rear trac bar drop bracket.|

If you just want extra clearnace for a larger tire than go with spacers and/or a body lift. If you want to increase suspension travel you will need go to springs and shocks. If you are looking for significant improvements then new control arms and other mods are needed. It really depends on what you are looking to get out of the lift.

I have heard that some of the springs that come in these lifts really change the ride from soft to firm or vise versa. I went for a 2.25" spacer because I like the ride of my stock springs. Ask around unless you do not care how your ride changes.
Oh yea and I heard that anything above a 2" lift you should change out the shocks. Some will agree and disagree with this though.

if you want your jeep to be functionable on the trails then forget about the spacer lifts and go with a real spring lift. After its all said and done you can go with a 2" maybe 3" inch spring lift without having to upgrade a bunch of other stuff to compensate for change in height.
You can get springs and shocks for a few hundred $$$. And install them in one afternoon.

2 inch or 3 inch coil spacer lift
im looking at the budget boost lifts and im comparing two inch lifts to the three inch lifts. what are the considerations i should know? are longer shocks required for either? any additional changes needed for the 3 inch? is the three inch safe?
