PoRcOqUaS Geoff Need Help:

Today my Half Steel Doors arrived from USA and... seems to fit my soft uppers from the 2 pieces soft doors except that theres some velcro where I expected a plastic band to fit under the halfdoor rail!
Can you double check again with some expert there?

I believe I've heard before, that European model years continued after they stopped YJ here in the States.

The model year changes on Wranglers can be VERY minor. Sometimes there's really no way to tell an 86 and an 87 apart, and there are always exceptions. Jeep is famous for changing axles for one year, but using a bunch of last year's model, or implementing a running change before the new model year.

So for Europe Jeep to say "TaDa! Here's our new '97 models!" is really just a marketing thing.

PoRcOqUaS Lol square Geoff I know what a TJ is btw in my profile there are the piccy of my jeep but still on the registration says build in 1997 and registered in 27/10/1997.
I mean boats are slow but coming from us to italy wont take 2 years, so probably this thing was sitting somewhere for more than 1.5 year, and again I would rather buy a TJ since I dont like it these is my 3rd yj and its the newest Ive found after a long search!
Its definitly a YJ I have a thing for square eyes :P
Anyhow is damn cool having ppl like you I mean most ppl I know dosent even know what a differential locker is here the Jeep scene is a bit sad

whiteyj That's the part I am not understanding.....Model year is based upon production year not years sold. Last production was model year 1995.

Oh well.....Still agreat vehicle 15 or so years later.

The YJ used a 2.5 L AMC 150 I4 or optional 4.2 L AMC 258 I6 until 1991. That year, a fuel injected 180 hp (134 kW) 4.0 L AMC 242 variant replaced the 112 hp (84 kW) 4.2 L 258 CID straight-6. The NP207 transfer case was used only in 1987 and replaced by the NP231
The roll cage was extended in 1992 to allow for rear shoulder belts, and anti-lock brakes were added as an option the next year. An automatic transmission option for 4-cylinder Wranglers came in 1994 along with a center high-mounted stop lamp.
In 1994, the slave cylinder on manual transmissions was moved outside of the transmission's bellhousing to allow for easier replacement, and in 1995 larger U-joints were used [front axle U-joints(297x) and rear pinion U-joint(1330)]. For the 1992 model year, the YJ switched over to an electronic speedometer outmoding the cable speedos on older YJs. 1995 was the only year to have a fully galvanized frame and body.
YJs produced in early 1996 were sold as 1995 model years, but featured a few new parts not seen on any earlier YJ. This included: the new TJ bumpstops on the hood (rubber boots vs the traditional U-bars), reinforced tailgate hinges, and it has been said that some even had rear TJ bumpers. Some lucky ones also got the newly tuned I6 that was tuned to run quieter in preparation for the TJ.

Dude YOU are completing wrong here in Italy as I stated the YJ was still on dealers in 1997 trust me I know what I'm talking about !!! I even said that its like your '95 model but its a '97 YJ!

Jeep here were like this '86 - '97 YJ '97 - '06 TJ and '97 - on JK
And you know what we even have some post '87 Civilian Jeep (CJ-7)

drgrcr74 Alright Geoff heres the next question for you. I just put my new supertop on today. 2002 tj half steel doors. When I get ready to take the top down do I haved to undo the header panel or am I supposed to take the plastic out of the header panel. Either way its going to be very hard to put back up. I had a pavement ends flip top and it was very easy to use and 4wd.com said this top was 10x's better Please send me all of your guidance, and wisdom!!!

My apologies, I thought you already had an answer.

Will a YJ Supertop Upper Door fit a factory half door?

I think the pins might be slightly off - but it wouldn't be a huge change to make if they are.

It's too late on a Friday to double check that answer with the people at work, so I'm doubly sorry for not reading your post and the replies more carefully.

I forgot to mention that my half steel doors are in the middile of the ocean between USA and Italy and my jeep is Here it Italy....SO I CANT TRY EM.

brent in az I don't know.

But it's something you could find out in twenty minutes as far as fit. Just go outside and put one on.

Also. Bestop has a crapload of installation pdfs at their website. Not to pimp for them since my rig isn't entirely their product...but they are accurate with what product fits what rig.

Bestop SuperTop Question

Hi guys,
I have couple newb question for you, let me introduce the facts:
I have a Supertop with full soft doors the two pieces doors that comes in package with the top, I bought a couple of half steel doors (the original ones) I think are '94.
Will my soft half upper fit it?
The doors got a tan trim panel and I have spice trim on my jeep you guys know a site where can I order both trim panels?

(my YJ is a '97 but we can assume is a '95 model for you)
