Well as for the cargo area I have two 2.5 gallon air tanks mounted back there and that is a good place to keep it out of the element however not the best for me because it would be buried in gear and I would have to dig it out. But I do like the idea of having it inside, but it has to work with soft top and be out of cargo area. I am thinking of a way of mounting it to back of rear seat with something like what they used in this thread.

|milani||HAFICON, I had to use it to change a flat on an uneven trail... wasn't the worst thing around, but you had to be careful. I also have the 12" base for it which helped make it much sturdier. Took me back to the 70's/early 80's before all cars started to have scissor jacks.|

I have never used it in this situation but have seen where it was used to free someone trapped in in a car after it rolled, individuals placed the foot on dash and used it to pry roof back up to get the person out. There was potential for fire other wise they would have waited for emergency responders. Now that is the most extreme case and chances of using it for that is slim to none but hopefully you get the point. It is an all around great tool but IMO the worst thing you cold possibly do with it is use it to change a tire.

|XTRyan||I have mine on the tire carrier and I like it. You have to make sure it's greased and cleaned though. I had an issue with the pins on mine going dry and it didn't want to operate properly.|

This - it's out of the way, secure, and fits under the hard top just fine.Also, I don't have to take everything I have packed in the cargo area out in order to get to it when I need it.

Unless you looking for the rugged "look", palehorse is right ... here are the benefits
1) Wont get stolen easily
2) Wont rot
3) Wont cause a ding in your hood when removing, my buddy had it on his hood and accidentally dropped the heavy end on his hood when messing around with it .
4) Wont cost you $ for mounting hardware.

|danrb||When I think of putting my hi-lift on the hood or back I think of all the dings all add to my Jeep taking it off and putting it back on. So I tucked min under the back seat and zip tie it to keep it from sliding around. Works great even had to get it out to repair a tire on my last trip out.|

I have truly never understood why people over-complicate things when it comes to carrying a hi-lift.
Here's where mine has been for over a year. It's up against the back of the rear seat in the cargo area, and it's held down by two thick rubber bungee cords attached to the clips in the floor. No rattles, no fuss, it's easily accessible, and it's never really in the way of anything -- even with the seats folded down. It's wedged in there diagonally between the two sides, and lays directly against the back of the rear seats.
I've even carried five tires in the back with the jack sitting right there in the same spot. No issues.
Seriously, don't over-think this...

I did a dominion offroad one...hidden...only downside is having to remove the jack if you take the soft top down/up...

|HAFICON||Well the hood mount does not seem to be the best option. My only thing about putting it inside the cab is digging it out when I need it. I am going to order a rack soon and might just wait and mout it to side of rack.|

|CCA4||I was thinking about the hood mount when I pick up a jack, but I'm also running windshield mounted lights, so I'm not sure it would fit. Seems like a tire carrier mount would be more convenient though|

Am using the rear TF mount right now. It works but I'm not in love with this option.
Am considering mounting to the hood. Don't really like that local either bit at least it would me out of the way.
Also could try mounting to rear roll bars but dont care for that option either.

High lift Jack mounting options.
Thinking of getting the Rugged Ridge mount and put it on my tire carrier. But where is everyone else mounting theirs? How does the hood mount work for you if you are using it? Anyone got pictures?
