|TxJeepHunter||scratch that. I just found it in another thread. Apparantly it's called the stater (in the manual)and is located inside the distributor cap. Thanks anyway.|

|TxJeepHunter||Hey TD, I've got a lack of fire problem on my 98 and have been troubleshooting it as well. I have no fire. I've replaced the coil, crank sensor, and battery. Nothing yet and was thinking about checking the Cam sensor. Can you tell me where it's located?|

|TD2020||The FSM says something about if the camshaft sensor was removed the oil pump drive and sensor relationship would be lost, then it takes you through a series of steps to correct it, all the way down to using some DRB scan tool? Is this a possibility seeing as how I never messed with the crankshaft sensor. It says if the camshaft or crankshaft was rotated which Im guessing it was during the rebuild. Im affraid after all my hard work installing this I will have to rely on some crummy mechanic to help finish the job. Do you think thats possible? Thanks for the other info all of you.|

|4Jeepn||is it the same year motor? As the 2000's used the non distributer version and perhaps that is the issue.. with the computer perhaps?|

|Jerry Bransford||You are correct on both of those points, just reexamine them and their connections to make sure they are solidly connected. I would disconnect/reconnect them both to make sure.|

The Crankshaft position sensor is on the transmission housing right? If so I never disconnected it.
The camshaft position sensor is in place and I never disconnected the wire so It should still function. This sits flush with the block right?
Any info on either of these 2 items are of help. I will take a look at both and see if I can figure out which one is giving me problems.

|Jerry Bransford||Did you get the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor both hooked up and installed properly? If either of those is not functioning, you'll have the symptom you are having right now.|

|doclouie||If it is getting fuel then it must be spark since you do not have a distributor on that model.|

4.0 L replacement issues
I just finished up installing a used rebuilt 4.0 L in my 2000 Wrangler. I used all my parts from the old motor to the new one, Intake, Alt, PS Pump, AC compressor etc... The motor turns over but will not fire. Pulled a plug and it smells like its getting fuel and there is fuel spitting out on the rail bleeder. Any Ideas on what I should do to trouble shoot this problem.
