Hexxum Why should you have to HAGGLE HAGGLE HAGGLE with a company in the situation I provided? They should have bent over backwards to try and take care of a customer, rather than let one walk away. Not to mention the negative publicity they receive when something like that happens.

MOz I buy from a lot of sources. I've also spent a significant amount of $$ at QT and had zero(0) issues with them... Make sure you know what you are buying and do not rely on any salesperson. IMO.

The trick to them (or any vendor for that matter) is HAGGLE, HAGGLE, HAGGLE... If I am buying multiple items, I insist on free delivery and they will give it to me. If they resist, I leverage my location to them since I am only an hour away.

jp'rs_peep'rs I couldn't disagree more....... Lol!

My own persoanl experience with QT has been good each and every time.
Most recent purchase was for a inner door handle (driver side) and several other components: including rear corner guards, rear passenger side flair, QT floor mats and several small items.
All items came in a very timely manner.
When it was discovered that the handle was for the wrong side, they shipped it's matching counterpart free and no charge for the item.

The time before I purchased several items and they all arrived as order and in a very timely manner.

desertdood Ordered a part recently. Didn't fit. No help in finding a replacement. Out an extra $12 on return shipping. They're real fast on refunding.

Flyguychad I just purchased my first item from quadratec and the product was terrible. They didn't work correctly and the customer service rep was rude, and unapologetic. I will simply not spend anymore at a company that will not stand behind their products. I am not happy with quadratec.

...and therein lies the problem for most of us......There isn't anything local. Here in the Seattle area the closest shop I've found is Olympic 4x4 and they are an hour drive.

Hexxum At least if you buy local, you can have a face to face with somebody if there is an issue. It's too easy to say "No" or "can't help you" over the phone.

good resource for finding part names, etc. but then shop around. same thing i do with crutchfield for car audio equipment. the sales reps are usually pretty knowledgeable but the prices are RIDICULOUS

I stopped buying anything from Quadratec years ago. What you gain in their huge assortment of parts is lost with their extremely high prices, outrageous shippiing & handling charges, and often clueless sales people. And their "low price guarantee" where they will beat other advertised pricing (only if called on it by the buyer) is predatory by its very nature.

Let's say that a small dealer risks advertising a widget for $50 and Quadratec advertises the same widget for $75. QT reaps the benefits of the extra $25 from all those orders where the buyer did not shop around. But when a customer sees the $50 price for what he needs from the small dealer but runs to QT who can easily match the $50 price, that screws the small dealer who risked advertising it at $50. QT has run a lot of small dealers out of business with that unfair business practice where they screw their customers constantly with higher prices and then screw the smaller risk-taking dealer by taking the order away from them by doing a one-time price drop to match another dealer's more reasonable price.

And then they are known to ship reboxed returned products with missing pieces, have totally clueless salesreps who promise anything to get the deal, and who can't answer technical questions with any reliable level of accuracy.

And here's just one price example from Quadratec. Look up what Quadratec sells the Uniden Pro510XL CB radio for. Well I'll tell you, it's a ridiculous $69.95. What can you buy that same radio for elsewhere? $33-$35 which is every day pricing available all over the Internet, Fryes, etc.. That is not unusual for Quadratec, pricing of 100% higher than other sources for many of their items. Not including the outrageous shipping & handling charge on top of that absurd $69.95 price.

As I said, I stopped buying from QT years ago. They'll never win me back, there are too many better sources of parts at lower prices with reasonable shipping charges.

For those items I'd give David at Northridge 4x4 a try . . . you can search high and low and you probably won't find anything but positive feedback. I've personally also had great experiences with Mesa 4x4. Unfortunately, some of the smaller companies don't have the selection of a Quadratec, but the service is night and day. I've also found that often times the smaller guys have better pricing or will match the big guys, they also often times don't charge tax and sometimes even offer free shipping. Sometimes you almost have to use the big guys for some items, but when I can, I'd rather deal with guys known in the Jeep community for caring about their customers and going the extra mile.

I totally agree with that statement . . . that's a 83% satisfaction rate. Would you still have a job or be in business if 17% of the time you screwed up or had an unhappy client? Wouldn't you guys perfer to deal with a company that 99% of their customers are happy?

Hexxum I understand your positive stories of Quadratec, as that is the case with any business. One person may get burned, while the next finds it to be great service.

But my question is, whatever happened to service and not just doing the bare minimum to get by? If that rep really wanted to help me out, he could have given me alternatives instead of 1) lying to me, 2) offering no additional assistance to locate the item/part 3) just shrugging it off as there isn't enough demand. (It's not like quadratec is actually making the part)

I could guarantee you if I was the CEO of Quadratec and saw that we let a customer go because we didn't have a part they wanted, with not attempt to satisfy the customer, I'd be pissed.

jdhallissey I have dealt with quadratec too and have had no issues yet with them. I ordered stuff from them and it even showed up a day early for me. I was happy.

whiteyj I don't work for Quadratec but have so say for everyone of these stories there are five satified customers. Since I've owned my YJ, in the places I have lived there haven't been any local shops to deal with. I tried 4Wheel Parts once. But have spent quite a few dollars with Quadratec and never a lick of problems. As catalog retailers go they have been pretty stand-up. But as Mr. C said, the beauty of living in the US is you are free to take your business anywhere you please. Quite lucky when you hear the horror stories from some of our European members who have extremely limited sources as no one wants to ship their way.

I've used Quadratec quite often and never had anything but good service and fast deliveries from them. BUT..........
I always try to find what I am looking for locally at my 4 wheel shops and auto parts dealers. Usually they will have or will find what you need and it has a double possitive result. One - you keep money in your community and help your local shop stay in business and 2 - you get to meet others who share your love of offroading and who can offer advice and experience. It never hurts to have knowlegeable acquaintences near by when you run into a problem. Just my .02

At 99.99, and free shipping, it was a great deal and exactly what I was looking for. I found another site that offered to sell it to me for 149.99 plus shipping.. Came out to be about 165.00. That is WAY too much for a temporary top that I will use on occasion.

BTW Geoff, I love my TrekTop, and the location I bought it from worked out a deal with me to get the top replaced without a hitch. Bestop Rocks and I will keep telling the community that!

Now if we can just get a Quadratec rep on here that would like to defend themselves to the community. I'm sure their CEO/President would love to hear the negative comments and money they lost through my current and future business.

Hexxum Part of the reason I created this thread was to let the community know the issue at hand. I'm not big on spreading negative energy, but in this situation they really tried to make me look like the fool. I'll just turn it around, hope the Jeep community listens and they lose business they would have received if they did the right thing to begin with.

AlexBernard I'm fairly new to off roading, but Quadratec has been the site that's been recommended in the past, mainly because it caters to Jeeps and they do have a pretty large selection. I'm actually in the process of making some upgrades to my TJ. Schmo, where else would you recommend looking? I'm probably going to get a snorkel, OYE, Quicker Disconnects, a winch and extra lighting.

I wonder how many of these threads it will take for Jeepers to figure out that Quadratec, 4WP, and the likes, are not the best places to shop. I guess a shiney catalog goes a long way Based on my own experiences and the multitude of horror stories I've heard from others, you got off easy, Hexxum . . . you had the good fortune to learn the lesson before sending them your money only to receive the wrong item, or worse, like so many others have. Good luck finding what you're looking for!

Hexxum They carry every other emergency top EXCEPT for the 04-06 Unlimited 2 door. Knowing that they can order them, you would have thought the Rep would have offered to have it special ordered for me, even if it wasn't for the sale price.

I work in customer service, and know about going the extra mile for the client. Business' seem to forget that it's not all about them.

Depending on the price they gave me, it would have been possible I would have paid the retail.

Quadratec you REALLY let me down!

I have been an avid support of Quadratec, but they really let me down on this one. I have a trektop bestop which I absolutely love, but when it comes time to take the top off, it comes all the way off. I really don't want to lug it around in the back of my Jeep.

I happened to notice that Quadratec had a 99.99 with free shipping deal on the Pavement Ends Emergency Tops, and thought, "PERFECT!!!" I search the site and can't find it anywhere. They have a helpful link to contact an associate. The associate states that Pavement Ends doesn't make a 2 door LJ top. I know this is wrong because it can be found directly on Pavement Ends website. I explain this to the rep, and give him the link. He comes back and says that it isn't an emergency top, but a soft top. I was astonished that even with the link that says emergency top, he still was blowing smoke up my

I tell him again that it is the emergency top, and upon closer look, he agrees. Then he states that with the low demand for them, Quadratec doesn't carry them. He didn't even offer to order it for me, or to do anything to earn my business. What I thought was a great deal, ended up turning me completely off of Quadratec. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
