wolfen Well I see I'm late on this thread. YES girls, and women CAN work on things AS GOOD AS A MAN CAN.

case in point when I was in th Navy we worked everything from Radial R1820 engines all the way up to F-14;'s with GE 101's in them. And in the 20 years I worked on aircraft I had both men and women working with and for me, I never had a problem out of a woman except once time, this girl was 95 pounds soaking wet trying to pick up a 400 lb rotor blade by herself, and she felt like if she asked for help shed be laughed at cause we could all lift them except her. once I got it through her little head that it was to ask for help she was the BEST blade mech I had.
In the civilian world I know a 16 year old girl right now that the Ford dealer here in Va Beach calls when they are stumped by a problem

rrich Obviously you guys don't know how to get the best out of women.

It takes some preparation:
Start with the essentials they need; a snack, a cell phone, and a bathroom - critical for success.

Warm the garage up to at least 80 degrees.
Install hooks and hangers for them to put ALL their clothes on. (Skin is easier to wash than clothes - and you'll help.)

Then who cares if they know whether they are bolting a throttle body or an injector onto the radiator!

MOz A few years back I taught my wife how to bypass the starter solenoid on her '68 Mustang. Every once in a while the solenoid would get stuck and not work and I would have to short it out to start the car.

One day we drove it to her father's house and it didn't start. After a few minutes, she grabber the screw driver and shorted the terminals on the solenoid and the engine fired up....the look on her dad's face was simply priceless. Every once in a while he drags out that story and glouts about how his daughter hot wired her Mustang.

chucky cheese It's like that movie Shallow Hal, When you see a female working on a jeep it's not what you see but see what you think.

Kate Unfortunately, a few years ago, OBM had Lasik surgery.
Until that time he thought I was a well endowed twenty something

That's right!

Since I was a little Kate, back when the wheel was chiseled out of the first rock and the axle cut from the first tree, I used to hang around my brothers and watch them work on cars. I was the tool chaser and resident pest.

Later I was married to a man who said "If you're going to own this 4WD pickup, you're going to learn how to work on it." and he taught me. I loved it.

Now that I'm a lot older I still fiddle with my Jeep when I can but my OBM seems to like it best when I'm not under foot. I ask a lot of questions and like things to be "just so".

Sometimes, his taking over attitude kinda pisses me off. It's MY Jeep after all. Just because I let him make the payments on it, work on it and pressure wash the mud off of it, there is no reason in the world why he should think it's his!

And sometimes, I'm just grateful that he's doing it and I don't have to fool with it.

Where in reality I've seen my wife open a new jar of pickles while beating me with a bar stool. Women have always walked in man's shadow and when they step out from that shadow its hard for man to view them as an equal. If a woman can assemble and cook a gourmet meal why can't she wrench a jeep?

No offense meant to anyone on here who may be gay...I love my cousin, I mean he's family...and it's kinda opened my eyes up and I'm beginning to broaden my views.

Yeah you really wouldn't know my buddy is gay until you get to know him . . . lot's of people have preconceived notions about how gay people are, but just like everybody else, they come in different shades of the rainbow . . . pun intended. No femmy mannerisms, no lisp, likes car racing, works with metal, dresses like a beach bum, drinks whiskey . . . he's a cool dude that just so happens to like other dudes. It's funny cuz he doesn't like your stereotypical flamey gay types either . . . so he usually ends up having a few too many shots and then hits on us straight guys!!! I had an assistant a few years back that was the total opposite . . . you'd almost catch fire if you stood too close he was so flamey, but he was still a lot of fun and a better wing man than any of my straight friends as most of his friends were hot chics and it's not like he was going after them. I don't get the whole homophobe thing . . . the way I look at it . . . the more gay dudes, the better my odds with the ladies. The problem lies with good looking lesbians . . . that just ain't right . . . unless they let you watch!

jcf I work on my Jeep, unless it's something I am physically unable to do, I will tackle it. Sometimes I use a cheater bar & the 35s are a bit to heavy for me to lift so hope I don't ever get a flat. Jeff does the oil changes, he wants to so I don't really mind, I don't like changing oil much.

doclouie I will just be happy that my wife lets me buy pretty much whatever I want for my Jeep since she totaled my last one out. I have taught her all the right words and lingo if anyone ever asks what mods are done on the Jeep though. I just have to say almost any girl in a TJ is hot. Even if they are not I must say they are better looking in a Jeep than any other vehicle in my book. Kinda like beer goggles without the beer.

McLovin Since this thread has to do with women and jeeps. I saw two pretty little ladies at work the other day and a lifted up jeep. I went back into work I said hey whos the girl with the jeep? SHE says thats my girlfriend. Oh yeah best friends huh? No were dating.

So I played it off as I didnt think she was hot. Damnit

toshpate I love working on my jeep. Yes it is hard to get oil and grime off fake nails but it is worth it. No not a butchly dumb blonde either...and not offended when a guy says generally woman do not have a clue about cars, wrenches, tools etc. Its a factual statement. Just like saying all guys are mechanical..not true either...and guys are so much better at opening the beer and handing it to me!!!

oh yeah me and my wrecked CJ..boo hoo....
