GroceryGrabber Happy to hear that you're ok. Even minor accidents can seriously injure somebody.

This just goes to show that a Lexus, like all higher end vehicles, are overpriced plastic pieces of sh*t. I hit a 50 pound dog with an 03 Nissan. And DESTROYED half my front end going about 55. An F150 backed into my Jeep and took his rear bumper off. Granted, I've got a Rugged Ridge front bumper, but come on now. A 5mph bump shouldn't do anything to a vehicle IMHO.

Just goes to show. I'd rather get 10mpg and have steel than have 20mpg because my vehicle is plastic.

Glad to hear your alright once again.

McGridDLe Glad to hear all is well.. and this really makes me feel more comfortable behind the wheel of my jeep, I have not been in any accidents yet (knock on wood) but I feel really good now hearing from you guys that I hopefully wont have too much to worry about!

coolbreeze I heard you don't have to replace with a stock bumper. The Lexus insurance may fix you up

4Jeepn While it sounds like the jeep and you are okay.. most important part of course. Look over the Jeep for signs that the energy of impact didn't due more damage than you think..

BSUjam I accidentally backed over some neighborhood kid's bike in my LJ. Why did he have it laying on the ground behind my beast? Luckily nothing was broken in my Jeep. His bike, however, looked like one of the mushroom enemies that Mario used to jump on...

MCG Glad to hear that everybody is good.

Yeah they hold pretty good. I had 2 acccidents # 1 an Acura RL 2008 (That was on 2008) i rear ended nothing happen to the Jeep, My insurance paid like 5k for his rear bumper and trunk.
#2 Then a Toyota Corolla, this girl tried a u turn and it was to late for me to brake, her front fender or front quarter panel was bad. she couldn't drive the car after that, again only few scratches to the paint on my plastic fender flares, I didn't make any claim I just let her go.
But the Jeeps holds prety good man.

MOz Think about what you could have done with an upgraded bumper.....

Schmo Glad to hear you and your Jeep are okay . . . these things are tanks. I had a girl back up into my Jeep in a parking lot a while back right after I installed my new bumper/tire carrier . . . crumpled her quarter panel like a coke can, broke her tail light . . . at least a couple thousand dollars worth of damage. I had to look really hard but noticed a tiny little smudge in the powdercoat on the very corner of my bumper! I'm with you . . . I love my Jeep!!!

Accident last night... TJ held up great

hi guys,

Last night I was driving down rt. 202 south near Philly (202 is a 4 lane road like a highway but it also goes through towns), minding my own business, going about 50 mph in the left lane and getting ready to pass the guy in the right lane. All of a sudden the guy in the right lane nails his brakes and then I realize that, oh crap, a Lexus Es300 had just pulled out directly in front of him... now let me just clarify that the Lexus did not pull out trying to make a right onto 202. The Lexus driver made a mistake and thought his light turned green, so he was pulling right into speeding traffic... at this point, I see that the Lexus is right in front of me trying to get across the road as fast as possible. I slammed on the brakes but we were already too close. I hit his car right behind his rear wheel and I smashed his quarter panel and ripped his bumper off... I pulled over, pissed off as hell, expecting to see my front end destroyed. But to my surprise, the stock bumper was bent on the left and my fender had clipped the guys trunk so it was a little damaged and my turn signal was broken but that was it. I couldn't believe nothing was really broken! the poor Lexus had a destroyed quarter panel, no bumper, broken tail light, and probably more that I didn't notice... After the accident I noticed that my steering wheel is slightly out of alignment so something might be bent in the front end since my front left wheel took most of the impact, but the jeep doesn't shake or wobble so I don't think anything is majorly wrong.

So, long story short, if I was in a regular car there would have been a ton of damage, but my crappy little stock bumper held up great! i love my jeep.
