|catITguy||Mine never had any issues when I had 32x11.5s. Moved up to 33x12.5s and could watch it rattle around on the tailgate.....decided I would just suck it up and buy a carrier, rather than wait for it to break at some inopportune moment.|

|Jerry Bransford||Having cracked the OE spare tire carrier when I was running a 33x12.50 spare, 32x11.50 is the biggest you can run without much worry. I haven't heard of too many issues with 32" tires on it anyway. It won't block the 3rd brake light as it is only 1" taller from the mount than a 30" tire is.|

|Jp90Talon||I wouldnt risk larger than 31"s. I ran 32"s and didnt have an issue with the brake light but over time my hinges became shot from the extra weight and now rattles like hell.|

Largest tire on OEM tire carrier?
I have 31" tires in my "06 TJ and the original 225 on the tire carrier. This doesn't do me any good if I get a flat tire. What is the largest tire I can put on the tire carrier w/o doing any damage and also not block the 3rd brake light?
