|jdhallissey||K do this- find the one spacer in there that is around 1.25" then go to ace get a nut that will fit the bolts. Thread it on and leave like 2.25in of the bolt intact then cut the backside of the nut. In doing this you don't have to buy a body lift just using what you have there.|

|JeepnJim||Tjrunner, I removed an ugly-assed 3" BL and replaced it with a JKS 1.25" BL. You need to shorten the fuel filler hose, relocate your fan shroud so your fan doesn't hit it, pay attention to and replace the steering bracket spacer between the frame and the steering shaft and spray some PB Blaster on your old body mount bolts just in case they're hard to remove. Mine were a breeze. Under the carpet(if you have carpet) on the driver's side are 4 bolts holding the transfer case shift linkage bracket. Take that off before you lower the body and replace the BL adapter with your new one after both sides are lowered. I strongly suggest the 1.25" over the 2" BL. It's just about right for 31x10.50s. Jerry that size body lift is AMAZING I mean you can scrub the top of the frame too. Makes a great place to hold your rifle while you shoot. Look at all the possibilities of the 4in body lift hehehehehhe

|Schmo||Seeing that you want to do right by the Jeep . . . I'd recommend going with a 1" or 1.25" BL vs the 2" . . . but regardless either will be a huge improvement. And x2 on the pics . . . I think we'd all get a kick out of seeing them!!!|

as soon as i get them all together and take some of the bl ill post them it looked great when the 33's where on it but those tires were too much for what they had it set up for
oh i forgot to mention that the current Bl is STACKED and is starting to split on the front end i really hope the po hasnt messed up to much

That is insane! A 4-5 inch body lift is dangerous! You are doing the right thing by rescuing that Jeep and recuperating her.
You might want to take a few looks around at other things that might have been skimped on if the PO took those shortcuts. That Jeep will ride and look alot better with the shorter body lift. With a 2" body lift there isn't much you need to do and the kit should come with shift linkage and the sort. Try and get rid of any mods he/she had to do to get that 4 1/2 inch BL on there.
I can't pretend to know all the things you have to do to get that old BL on so you should wait for others that have the personal experience to tell you what else to expect and what to look for.
If you could post some pics. I am very curious to see what the Jeep looks like.

|Tjrunner||yea unfortunately its all correct it was somewhat of a rescue mission the jeep was a repo and also my first jeep btw i got rid of the 33's and put 31x10.5 on the same wheels for a better fit|

|Tjrunner||yes just measured it just now its about 4 1/2 inches and its all BL but thats not the worst part the front sway bar is loose. the previouse owner had 33x12.50 tires stuffed on stock wheels with no spacers so thats what happened to the sway bar. i dont wheel yet because i know the old girl isnt stable and yes its my dd|

are you certain that you have a BL that high? 4-5 inches is dangerous. Are you sure you don't have any other type of lift?
What size tires are you running?
Do you wheel often or only some of the time?
Is this your DD?

2" body lift install help?
ive got a mostly stock 98 sport with about 4-5 inches of body lift everything else is stock the old girl is a bit of a mess so ive ordered a new 2" body lift to set it back down after that im going to start over the right way lol can anyone give me some tips or at least tell me what im about to get myself into any help or advice is welcome
