im not sure if i'm following you correctly, but the top of jks quick disconnect is connected to the sway bar, (the long bar that stretches across the grill of the jeep) then the bottom of the jks is connected to the steering knuckle. to disconnect, you pull that hinge pin out where the knuckle/jks are connected. then wrap the jks link up over the spring perches. i'm sure you already know this, i'm just posting it for anyone who might not.

I run without the front connected all the time no big deal if your aware of it.
You guys disco the rear as well? I've always heard that's a bad idea but never tried it. Same advantages discoing the back as the front?

OP...A picture of your swaybar links would be great.
As for the purpose of disconnecting the swaybar....Offroad it allows for better wheel articulation letting you flex more..."there is alot to it but that sums it up".
As for driving on road disco'd....Do some do it...yes...is it recommended...NO! Why...simple it's there for a reason..to control the sway of the vehicle...safety.

|yburn||I run with no swaybars in front or back !! When i got my jeep they had took them out!!!! dont know why but they did,I can run 60mph just fine i get aliitle body roll in the cuves but other than that its not to bad !!!|

With the flip of a switch, the front sway bar is disengaged when driving under 18 mph in four-wheel-drive low range. This allows the wheels to drop and compress up to an additional 20 percent for outstanding wheel articulation.
From JEEP'S website. Means big time crawling over stuff.
My 04 Rubicon didn't come with this feature. I took it for granted that all Rubicons did. However, I was very happy to find out mine was modified to do this same thing, but I have to set it up manually.
I'll take that...

|Samsrubicon||quick noob question, not to hijack the thread, but what are the pros and cons of disconnecting your swaybar? i mean is it for heavy duty off roading of for easy muddy trails? what are the advantages?|

|kdukes4||pretty much. pins huh? do you have disco's in there? there should be a knuckle that comes out from the wheel assembly. that's where the bolt from the sway bar link connects. a stock sway bar would have a torx t55 i think bolt that connects through the knuckle. but yes remove that bolt on both sides of the jeep and you're disconnected. i use to fold the links up over the spring perches. driving on the road, you just get some more free play if you turn the wheel quickly at high speeds or take a sharp turn. nothing too bad really. if you drive a jeep slow like me, then its not an issue. i used to drive on the highway disconnected in the front and rear. lol. nooowww my jeep doesn't even have the sway bar!|

I seem to recall hearing that onroad driving with the swaybars disconnected is a VERY BAD idea. Im not 100%, but thats what sticks in my head.

How do i disconnect my sway bar?
i looked at the wheels and theres one link that connects the sway bar to the wheel mechanism
that link has two pins
so if i pull the pins should that be it?
and if i do disconnect it what would be the results if i leave it disconnected? for onroad driving
