sonofabeach I just picked up an 18 pack of Dorada on sale for SEVEN friggin' bucks at Winn Dixie.
It sort of Corona-esque and it not the best beer ever....BUT.......it's doing the job!!

JimQ Southerner here too. You'll get a good laff outta this one. I switched to the Beast & love it. I get ragged every week when I take it to poker games.

Okay, here's the deal: Like almost everyone else in this thread I either drank whatever beer was on tap at a party or I just went with whatever was the best beer available at whatever bar I was hanging in.

A couple years ago I came across a pub that specialized in international beers. One of the first beers I tried was the Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout. When I looked at it sitting in the glass I thought it would taste like sawdust soaked in motor oil. I took a sip and it was like drinking a cup of smooth, molten, dark chocolate. After that experience I knew there was no-way-in-hell I was ever going to let another cheap ass beer touch my lips.

No, you don't have to like it. You don't even have to try it. All I know is that Russian Imperial Stout has a full, rich taste. It doesn't taste like bull piss like most of the other commercial beers.

We always bring our own beer when we come to visit, and for some reason that makes us pretty popular at the family gatherings.....

Buy yourself a case of Schlitz finish that and any beer will be wonderful.

AirDWN Alright. Enough of this starter shiite.

Whoever the hell the crybaby is that started this thread--whatever beer you decide to bust your cherry on enjoy yourself. When you wake up from your drunken stupor you'll be done with basic training. Now it's time to strap on some body armor, put on your game face, and tackle these bad boys:

Cut your teeth on this nice Russian beer:

Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout. 7% Alcohol content

...next move up to this Pilsner from Sri Lanka:

Lion Imperial Stout. 8.8% Alcohol content

...Now if you've grown enough hair on your chest from the first two beers, then brace yourself for this badass beer. One glass of this blond ale is equivalent to a six pack of Coors Light. Hells yeah.

Belzebuth Blond Ale: 13% Alcohol Content

What does Belzebuth taste like? Imagine if you poured a whole bottle of pure rubbing alcohol in beer glass, then dropped in an Alka Seltzer tablet.

Gate53 Just go to a bar and drink 3 that the bartender recommends, then 3 of the one you like the best, after that the cheapest they sell and just take them directly into the mens room and pour them down the urinal to save yourself the time of being the middleman.

Boosta If you are a regular guy and like a good tasting beer you can't go wrong with an american original...Coors Light. Or if you like flavor, Yuengling, Sam Adams, or exotic Red Stripe, Grolsch or you can try ALL OF THEM and let us know which is your favorite. I hated beer, but as I got older I grew to appreciate it and now...well....I have a problem!! LOL JK.. My personal favorites are Coors Light, Red Stripe, and MGD in that order, however I can drink pretty much all of them except for DARK DARK beers like Black and Tan etc.
08-27-2010 12:20 PM
Mr. Sinister I started with PBR, and I still drink PBR.

But I like Guinness, Killian's Irish Red, Newcastle Brown Ale, Wells Bombardier, Wells Banana Bread beer, Miller High Life and a few micro brews here and there.
08-27-2010 12:06 PM
AirDWN I would definitely go with the Yuengling Black and Tan for a starter beer.

jgano23 MGD, Miller Chill, Bud Lime, Corona, Land Shark are some of my faves. imo, they don't have an overpowering taste.

FREDO 4X4 For me the test for drinking beer is the one i can drink all night and not be sick in the morning or before bed. Where i live we drink to get hammered so this plays a huge roll. For me the beer i can drink like a fish and never get hangovers from is. BECK'S i could drink this stuff for breakfast Oh wait i have.
