frankenbury I think most manual vehicles without tachometers have that silly shift light. I lived with it for 12 years in my s-10 and I'm grateful not to have it in my TJ with a tach.

ENIX89YJ I actually get better gas mileage when i shift when it tells me to... It pretty much just tells you how to optimize your shifting... useless to some but to a 17 year old kid it kinda helps save a little gas...

ryt2112 That is the most annoying and useless light on your Jeep. The shift light.
If you are ever in your dash, take it out. It will make things much better

stevens243 Shift light. Jeep decided to helpfully warn people when to upshift.

Ignore it.

I know on TJ's there is a way to disable it. Not sure about YJ's. Probably not worth the time...

what does this light on my dash mean?

I have a 92 YJ 4 cyl a light comes on intermittengly the light is near the green blinking turn signal light, it looks like white a large arrow pointing to the front? everything is running fine light comes on every minute or so then turns off, I suspect it is some kind of warning light but I don't have the owner manual.
