BrentR94 Hey guys, I took apart my dash after work and the center console... It was not the ignicition cylinder. it's some kind of safety gear selector that is kind of underneath the airbag on/off switch.... It's a bad connection. Cheap and easy fix!!

Thanks for the responses!

Jerry Bransford Though the steering wheel is now locked, I'd still try moving the steering wheel a tad one way & the other to see if that doesn't unlock the ignition switch.

jeepers29 Yep, sounds like the lock cylinder or someone was messing with it.

jp2611 Not positive and I hate to tell you to use search when I am not sure.....but I think there was a thread on here a year or two ago about a pin of something in the ignition switch that breaks and you are stuck in the position you are describing......I think the fix involved buying a new lock cylinder and putting it in.......might be easier to get Locksmith if it is a DD......Good Luck!!!!

Trouble Trouble Trouble...

So here's what happened...

I woke up this morning for work, went outside to start my TJ (98, automatic, 4 banger) and the key would not turn. I checked the the gear and I was in park. I thought the ignition was frozen so I took a blow drier to it but that didn't work. After messing around for a bit i noticed that my steering wheel was not locked so I tried turning it and it eventually locked.... I've tried both my usual and spare key. Any idea's on whats wrong and what needs to be done would be great!!

Thanks guys,
Brent
