Addition - my mechanic said I have a really great motor, an Iron Duke... and explained some about it. Opinions?

andreafahy01 The owner of our local auto parts shop told me that my engine is 2.5 4 cylinder. Not that it means anything to me .... He did say that most have a 6 cylinder. His main employee offered to do the exhaust manifold job on the side which is awesome, will save me some $$ and let me get some other stuff done.

bergy yeah i have a YJ too... i am not as big of a fan of the new JKs... they just dont seem rugged enough for me but i have heard that they are a great ride going down the road but i am 21 and im not looking for a smooth ride i actually like the bumps a bit and i love my Jeep... nice things about YJs is they are much easier to work on then JKs because of how basic they are and im not a great mechanic so that is nice for me lol

andreafahy01 Well we bought our first Jeep, an '08 Unlimited, two years ago and I was immediately hooked! I was never into cars, but as a child/teen I liked the old Beetles and Wranglers. I had a '73 Beetle for a few years, it was pretty neat. So I was pumped for the opportunity to get another Wrangler last winter and I feel like I like it more than the JK which seems crazy since the JK is so very nice and new and really a great vehicle. I like that it's smaller and a little rumbly thing =)

May 8th, world topless day, eh? We've had the JK's top down for a few weeks and I've had my YJ's doors off for weeks! Chilly in the mornings, but it's worth it! I'm not sure I'll be venturing into removing my YJ's hard top anytime soon. Looks like a big ordeal and the condo management might get mad at me for setting it somewhere cause there is no place for it!

thanks for the help offer, Scott and very funny Chris!!!

sevenservices Welcome! Never knew I'd be a Jeep guy... but... here I am!

Good lookin' project ya got there. Lots of potential for greatness! You'll love it! The other day I was pushin' through a bunch of deep mud and I started turning left to right to left to right and my wife says "wtf are you doing?" I replied "when you turn the wheels in the mud it throws more mud all over the jeep to make it look better" ...she just does'nt understand!

scott howard welcome to the Jeep thing and the two things a Jeep will do in your life is turn you into a Jeeper for life and also turn you into a expert Jeep mechanic by giving you many years of enjoyment and many days under the hood learning how to fix stuff.

one thing you will learn is that if you own a Jeep it is like getting a family to go with it .
you will find out what i mean as you notice other jeepers waving at you as you pass them going down the road and the way the gals and guys on here will come to you aid to help you figure stuff out and get your Jeep up and running strong.

have a great day and remember may 8th is world wide topless day .

feel free to give me a call if you have a issue and need a fast answer .

andreafahy01 Brief follow up - as you can see I traded my wrecked Toyota Tacoma for the Wrangler and was pretty pumped about that. I got it back in November but have not had much done with it. We used a mechanic for some basic stuff (fix turn signal, inspection, etc) Seems like there was some bigger job he did but I can't remember now.

On the list - needs new exhaust manifold, needs new skidplate for the fuel tank. The underside is very rusty, it was at the beach for years. I'm figuring out what to do about the tires being stuffed in so that I can take it off road without rubbing if I ever feel like it. The inside needs some treatment as there are areas rusting, so some sanding/painting or a coating of some kind. The speakers sound blown out, I also know nothing about doing that sort of work...

Anyway, I love driving my Wrangler and am excited to learn about it and get some things going with it!

YJ Profile

In attempt to learn about my Wrangler, I started my YJ's profile. I figured it was a good outline to go by and figure out the answers for the profile fields!

There's not much to see yet, and besides I haven't really had much work done at all yet!
