rich1014 Just make sure you get something that you can add to later easier, i.e. 6 cyl and a D44 rear end

1) Wrangler Base, vs. X, vs Sport vs. Limited? which is best base vehicle for future light mods (e.g., lift, etc.) or is it best to go for the Rubicon??
2) 4 vs. 6 cyl. motor
3) I6 vs. new V-6
4) auto vs. 6-sp manual
5) hard top vs. soft top
6) any accessories to add at time of initial purchase

Many thanks,
Fred
any of the above satisfies the mid life crisis!!(ok, maybe not the 4 cyl.)

Jeepin1023 TJ is definitely a good starting ground. Lots of mods out there for them, and you can choose what is best for you. Jeep can't stay stock forever right??

amerijeep If it were me I'd get the 6cyl with an auto tranny, premium wheels and soft top. The only other thing I would need to figure out is what color I wanted.

nicolas-eric 1) that depends on what you want on/in your TJ.
if you want the best TJ for offroading buy a rubicon.
otherwise a standard TJ will be ok.
the mods on TJ and TJ rubicon and the different TJ models aare the same

2)+3)+4) i would only buy the i6 with auto tranny.
the v6 comes only in the new wrangler JK, not in the TJ.

5) do you want to use the jeep as a convertible? softtop
if not -hardtop.
i would recommend the top-in-top, a ST and HT combination.

I'm not indecisive...i'm just doing my customary homework before making a decision...

greyhound788 I would like to buy a new leftover 2006 Wrangler...there are some amazing deals now in New England, where I live..
I've found a dealer who will start the negotiation at dealer invoice and will then subtract.....$2500 dealer cash back for 2006 leftovers, + I get another $500 military discount (I'm an Army reservist), and the dealer will also subtract the 3% holdback they get from Chrysler...and they will install any/all accessories for free at time of purchase...plus there's 0% interest loans for up to 72 months....unbelieveable...
they just want to move these leftovers..
