2014 jeep wrangler uconnect hands free bluetooth kit
I am looking for an after market 2014 jeep wrangler uconnect hands free bluetooth kit. While I was deployed my wife bought the jeep and the female salesperson told her it had the uconnect hands free for her iphone. When I returned from deployment, six months later, I found out it did not, so i went to the dealership and they denied ever saying such a thing and would not install it unless I paid about $700 (CRAZY!!) So I am looking for an OEM kit that I can install in her jeep.

|newal||Thanks DGriz for all of your research and info on this. I stumbled onto this thread while searching for a way to add u-connect to a 2011 with the RHB head. It sounds like the hardware is there, need to find the microphone. The link in a post for the mic shows it not available now, and the link for the video also will not run on my computer. But, I have hope now for getting it to work sometime. If any of you have come up with more info, please let us know.|

|shacklyn||If I'm reading the installation instructions for part #82212159 correctly on Quadratec's website, the UConnect option will not only give you hands-free phone operation, but also true iPod integration (with cable #82212160). For around $500, that's a bit pricey, but not terrible. I think I'll visit my local dealer next week and investigate.|

I had to get the aftermarket module Mopar Item # 82212159.
I had it installed by the dealer as it had to be connected to the system.
They may try to sell you the one with the separate fob. Insist on the part number above as their service manual is incorrect. With installation it is about 500$. Well worth it to avoid tickets.

|cdpdenver||Thanks DGriz. I will wait to see if anyone has done it with my model directly. If not I will order the mic and try. I will post an update if I go that route|

If your RES radio has the UConnect button, then I think it has everything you need except the mic. I have the RER so the procedure was a little different but I had to update the software for my unit via a free download that I burned on to a CD and put in the player. Then, I had to access the system menu to unlock the UConnect feature. After I added the mic, I was done.
Unfortunately, I haven't come across the procedure for your particular model. Hopefully someone else will chime in soon.

|cdpdenver||Thanks for the response. I think that site only deals with mygig. I have the RES/RSC unit. I heard that all 2010 units come with the module but it is not activated on the wrangler. I was wondering if I could just add the mic and get it to work.|

After reading up a lot more on this, I found out that my radio was already equipped with UConnect, it was just disabled on Wranglers. For $20, I bought a mic and downloaded a free software upgrade, and it works! It's basically the quality of a speakerphone, but that's all I was expecting. I've used it with the front two Freedom top panels off and windows down. I could hear them when I turned the volume up and just leaned in closer to the mic so they could hear me. No big deal. This was the best $20 I've ever spent.
The unit I referenced previously is what you use if you don't have a radio that already has the UConnect hardware built-in.

|staleyjeep||I have it installed after market on my X. Works great unless you have the top down and are trying to talk while driving above 40 mph. Wind noise makes it impossible for person on other end to hear you.|

Microphone will plug into back of RER - center (smaller) connector between main wiring harness and AV one.

|chef1231||It was not an option in the 09's,. good to go with the 2010 models now. You can go to mopar.com and checkout the pricing on buying the uconnect set up. The service department will put it in for you. Just make sure you get the set up with microphone so you can hear and talk. It will not plug right into the phone button on the radio but rather an extra button by the radio. How this helps|

Once SW is installed you need to go into Engineering Menu and enable VR/JK option.

UConnect for Wrangler
Has anyone out there used the add-on UConnect. When I got my '09 Rubi it came with the Nav system but no UConnect. The dealership is telling me that the Wranglers don't come with it for some reason (noise maybe?). Although I just saw a '10 Islander with it installed.
Here's a link to the part I'm considering: The Jeep Wrangler Parts and Accessories Store : Audio, Hands Free Bluetooth Car Kit, uconnect phone - 2009 Jeep Wrangler - $257.00$210.74
Would love to hear some reviews from anyone currently using something like this.
