If the fuel filter is all gummed up, no gasoline will reach the carb. The fuel filter is not a huge expense to replace.
Good luck, and let us know how you solved it.

|bergy||yeah check all your lines first before dropping the tank but it could be the pump if your not getting anything then drop it down and check the pump|

|Jeeper2||Keep in mind that the fuel filter and fuel pump are all one piece and is located inside the tank, So make sure to pull the lines before the tank to make sure they are clear and only pull the tank if you have to.|

|sevenservices||I've heard you can turn the key on to activate the pump, wait a few seconds, shut it off, then repeat this process 4 or 5 times before trying to start it. If it does'nt start, try again a couple more times to purge any air out of the lines. Can't hurt anything, and does'nt cost a thing to try...|

My jeep wont start, can i have some opinions?
Hello, im new here on the forum, but from reading some previous posts, i see the community is very helpful, im 17 almost 18 years old and just starting to get money for working on my jeep that i had been given as a gift, but the only thing is i have to restore it...no bigi, but ive been having trouble getting it started, it is an 89 Jeep Wrangler, with a 2.5 L engine. Ive just recently put a new battery in it and when i turn the key on, all the dash lights light up as normal, but i hear a noise coming from the back, well when i try to start it, it just wont turn over at all...So i had my dad help me and he fed sum gas to the throttle body, and she fired up!....So im wondering do you think i need to replace my fuel pump? because its obvious that gas isnt getting to where it needs to be, but i am having no leaks...so please post some helpful opinions and advice! Thanks!
