Seats are Stock

I also drive a 2002 but it's an X, and it too came with brown vinyl seats. I spoke with someone ages ago about it and they said it was an option, I think he called it "weather leather" or something. But since mine has it too I would bet yours is stock also. The car only had one previous owner wo definetly didn't modify anything on it.

619random I wouldn't even bother looking at the jeep, that price is way to high. I would maybe pay 8k for it. Take in mind this is the base model and doesn't come with any nice upgrades or hardtop. I could see if he had some money invested in some nice aftermarket parts, but in this case he doesn't.

I bought my 2002 sport with 80k miles for $8500, it only had one owner, 6k mile warranty and had the dana 44 rear option.

Also take in mind this was over a year ago and gas prices are starting to go up($3+), I doubt people are running to his door because they want a 14mpg daily driver.

TJNewbie $12,000 is too much. it does look like it's in good shape. top looks good, already has decent wheels (easy to polish them out), good tread on the tires. I'd offer $8500 & consider $9000, but not more. On the test drive take it over some speed bumps & dirt or gravel road something uneven to check for rattles and the suspension. Make sure the heater, & A/C work great. also check the back-up lights make sure they come on when they're supposed to.

InfernoGirl PO swapped seats to get more waterproof seats... Brown was what they could find. Check the floorboards for rust, since apparently it got wet once or twice, and talk him down on the price..... It's a good looking Jeep, except for the chrome...

Neil F. That price is very high for a stocker. I paid 13+ for a 03 with 39k 2 1/2 years ago. The Jeep also had a number of upgrades included.

Just so you know, that's not a Sport, it's an X model. Sports are worth a little more. Were the seats vinyl or cloth
When he says a little more, it's like an ever so slightly price increase. There weren't too many differences between most X and Sport models. The Xs were just the base models that could be customized with Sport options so you'll get almost all the same "amenities".

And no, if you like the car overall and you're biggest problem is the seats that wouldn't be a deal breaker. What would be is that price! Sure it's got some low miles but it's only 3 years younger then my 1999 which I paid $6k for!

meyers They didn't offer vinyl seats. They were all cloth.

3025826 Jeeps sure aren't cheap. I find it difficult not to spend money on anything to make it better, it is amazingly addicting.

ankyle62 i have an 2002 X and my seats are not like that.

12k for an 02 with 70k on it, no way! that should be like 8-9k

cloydtodd Seats were cloth standard on X and Sport for 2002. Colors were Agate and Camel.

Hawaii 5-0 Haven't seen it in person, yet. But I saw other pics online and the seats are all vinyl, both front and bench seat.

This would be a 3 hr drive for me, so I am leaning towards not going to see it.

Bruck Can't say that I know what they offerred in 2002 for seats, but I agree with you that it doesn't sound like a factory option. What I will say is that I have neoprene blue and black seats that kick my original seats in the ass. are right to be concerned about what else may be going on.

Original seat color for 2002 Sport?

I'm looking at a 2002 Wrangler Sport for sale. It's Black w/ black soft top, 70k miles. Looks good to me except for the fact that it has brown vinyl seats. Seller says these are original seats. I question this since they don't match interior. He put neoprene seat covers on, which do improve the looks.

Did Jeep really offer brown vinyl seat w/ black interior?
Is this a deal breaker?

Thanks, BB
