|phottomatt||Thanks guys, pretty much what I had thought, common sense if you consider the physics involved and the fact that I'll be using the stock axles. And like all my cars I run them till they die, which can be quite a long time. Like I said, I just want to fill out the wheel wells with out replacing my brand new wheals and tires.|

Yea, but you'll have to consider "long term" being WHAT??
In the old days 50's/60's/70's, Detroit designed car suspension so that wheels were backspaced, so that the vertical load was directly over the wheel bearings, but
Society has demanded aerodynamic and visual changes so that the wheels and tires are pushed further in and FLUSH with the fender design
This moves the vertical load, inward from the vertical ctr of wheel brg load-so
The real danger to using adapters/spacers is the failure to TORQUE them properly and RECHECK every tire rotation
I've read articles of up to 75,000 miles on a set of spacers with NO BEARING DAMAGE, so just consider the safety aspect of it FIRST

Long term, they CAN (but not necessarily WILL) cause more stress on the axles, which CAN bend them, snap a shaft, or warp rotors. Think about it in terms of physics- you're taking the moment of rotational inertia, and moving it out ~1.5". Not huge, but going from a 60.5" axle to a 62" axle with ZERO additional re-engineering and a questionable R&D job on most spacers (save TF and ST), and you have a potential for damage.
Now, in the real world, if you're not keeping your Jeep past 3-5 years, I DOUBT you'll have a problem. I just don't see spacers as the long-term solution- properly back-spaced wheels are- Mark W.

Any one know the long term effects of using wheel spacers? (if any) I'm gonna keep my stock wheels and just want to fill out the wheel well a little.
