computeruser It's fairly easy to do, but you are only looking at a couple hundred bucks to get the SYE install done, to have the shop measure for your new driveshaft, get it built/installed, and set your pinion angle.

I think the t'case rebuild kit goes for less than $150, and only adds a little labor to the process if the t'case is out already...might as well tackle that, too, while you're at it.

Jerry Bransford Directions for installing a SYE kit into a transfer case are usually extremely thorough and complete with photographs. It's not a technical job and is easier to do than it might seem. The only special tool you need is a split-ring remover plier that opens EXTREMELY wide, I ended up finding mine on a tool truck I saw parked at a car dealership. There are two schools of thought for removing the entire transfer case to do it vs. just removing the rear half of the case & leaving the front of it bolted to the transmission. I believe it is a LOT easier doing it the latter method, leaving the front half of the t-case bolted to the transmission.

To make the job easier, back the rear tires up onto a pair of car ramps to give you plenty of room to work.

4Jeepn Well if you have any doubt then a shop might be the best solution, unless you have some friends who might be able to help. I would guess a should is going to charge 300 to 500 to install it. But that is just guess. When looking for a shop ask how many they have installed, and how they stand behind their work.

SYE and CV shaft

I'm in the process of saving up for a 4 inch lift at the moment, but a couple things concern me. My first concern is about installing an SYE and CV driveshaft after the lift. I'm not entirely confident in my ability to do the install myself. How easy/hard is it to install? Or should i start looking for a good shop to perform the install? And how much should i expect the install to run me? Also, I am set on the SYE and CV shaft, I DO NOT want to run a MML and T/C drop.
