|Alex_perales||Hey I'm new to this forum so I don't know if I'm doing this right, I've been really interested in keyless entry for my 01 tj and every post I've seen keeps going back to your thread (witch is great by the way !). Except I need help on which one you ordered. Can you give me the link for the product page witch you got because I don't want to order the wrong one. Also dose the remote have 2 separate buttons for locking and unlocking? Thanks|

|kps0927||I was planning on running a power wire for the controller to an Add-a-fuse through the hole in the passenger dash wall. How did you get constant power for your mod?|

Ok, picked up the MES kit and the 2 pin disconnects for the rear doors of my JKU but needed to get minimum 5 pin for the front doors as there are five wires.
1. I need to buy some butt splices to accommodate the wire from the actuator to the quick disconnect that I will leave in the door right at the exit. What is wire size of actuators. Eyeballing it looks like 18awg. (I just ordered so I do not have them in hand to check)
2. I assume you use the actuator and the wire supplied to get to the edge of the door where you splice the SAE2pin. On the other side you will have to splice again to the wiring before terminating at the controller, Yes?

|doclouie||I like the surface mount switch and would recommend it. That site is also run by the biker guy. Tell him what you are doing and he will point you in the right direction.|

I know this thread is a bit old but just picked up a 2013 jku before end of year and wanted to add the power locks. I went to the mes site and it looks like the AVI-2101 is the kit we need (for 4 door). I do not want the alarm. I also see the surface mount switch as an option. Can you confirm this is correct? Also the link to the bohemian biker blog does not work but through search found that it links its store to Solar Capitalist LLC. Can you also confirm part# for the sae 2pin disconnect.

Beats getting quoted $250 per door... -_-

|TLATEOTW||i forgot to do that, and was lazy since then! i have hard top too and the tailgate lock is definitely important|

So I have gotten a few questions lately on my install. I still have had no problems with it at all. The only thing that I added to it was a hidden switch for the rear tailgate so it can be secure even when the top is down and the doors are off. This way you can't just hit the center console button and unlock the tailgate and take my tools and subs.
I did this mod so I can lock my vehicle as it has a hard top for more than half the year and I do not want to fumble with keys when it is pouring rain. I just click the remote and it is open.

|TLATEOTW||bought it from from a car electrician, the module that controls the locks is programmed to the remote from factory, i tucked it under the dash|

Either way, looks good. Great Job.
Where did you get the remote from? How did you get it to work with your keyless?
Thanks for the help.

TLATEOTW, I see from you photo that you used a factory remote ( I assume for a keyless entry system you added with your power locks). How did you do this? Did you just program the a factory remote to work with your aftermarket keyless entry?
I'm adding power door locks and a keyless entry from Electric-Life and don't like the remotes that come with the kit. I'd like it to look factory as possible.
Thanks for the help.

I have a hard top and always lock the doors out of habit.
I also lock my keys in the car all the time lol worst habit ever. I'm gonna install these actuators with a hidden unlock button outside the jeep like on xxx so I don't lock my keys in the car any more.

Excellent pics and info. Nice job!
I'm kind of surprised that anyone would bother to do this to a TJ, though.

|doclouie||When I debated about someone else doing the install the only places that would do it are car audio places, but their prices were through the roof.|

I was wanting to install power locks with remote entry but I don't want to do it myself. I was wondering where can I go in Dallas, TX to have this done.

|GoinPostal88||Hate to bring threads back to life but thanks, this really helped me. I too live in a shady area where things like to go missing. Not to mention being a postal worker I have VERY precious cargo in my Jeep. I need to add an alarm FAST. 5 Stars for you and also a |

|rogertc1||Is that a soft top? With my soft top I'd rather they open the door than cut the top myself. I never lock the doors.|
