HyperBuzzin Mine is the same way.... can't turn on dome lights or dim the dash lights, but everything else works fine.
I found a very small wire in the unit that broke. It's damned near impossible to get to the wire enought to splice or even solder it.

I just got a couple of those small "Tap Lights" and mounted them to the roof.
A used switch (w/fogs) on eBay is around $90. The tap lights were 3 for $10.

If you decide to replace the switch, here's a "how to" based on a 2003.

canadianwizard It is the multi function switch. I had to replace mine a couple days ago... My fog lights stayed on... my dimmer did not work... and i could not turn on my interier lights..

It is very easy to replace... there is a how-to on here to do it.. i seen it 2 days ago, but if u want a hand let me know and i can walk u through it... U will need tork bits if u dont already have them...

It had costed me 125.00 for the switch... other people have payed 90.00 depending where u live...

mrcarcrazy multifunction switch failure I do believe. most people have the foglight issues associated with this switch.

I'm not 100% that this is the cause of your woes, but if it is, I'd live with it, until another function of the multifunction switch stalk fails.

drivebytruckerz If I'm not mistaken.. this technology has been basically the same since the CJ. I think the knob assembly is relatively cheap and easy to find. I replaced one once in an 80 CJ and it was easy. Maybe it's just defective, or burned out, but someone else might have a better answer.

Dimmer/Interior light switch not functional

I've tried searching for this and I'm coming up with zero.

In my 2004 TJ, the dimmer and interior light switch are completely nonfunctional; the rest of the indicator stalk works fine. Interior lights work fine--they come on when the door is opened or ignition is turned off (just not when the switch is used).

I don't know where to begin to troubleshoot this, any tips?
