toshpate I have a plastic tank and my tail-pipe broke loose somehow and melted a hole in it because there is no sheilding between the pipe and the tank unless you put it there. I of course had no clue that would happen until I was in the middle of no-where kansas on a highway with gas pouring out and no exit in site, heck didn't even know I had a plastic tank...so just be careful what you buy and how well your tail pipe is fastened.

'92 time for a new gas tank

I've got an minty '92 that I found has holes in top of the metal fuel tank from rust, some sneaky mud that claimed some space up there. I've found a used plastic 20 gallon tank reported to fit up to an '90 model, would any one know if this this compatible with my '92?

Dealership reports same part number for an '90 or '92 replacement tank (over 700$ if they could still get it). And from other research for new aftermarket plastic tanks, the two year models look the same too.
