Jerry Bransford I would remove the TB and with a vacuum cleaner sucking via a taped on smaller diamter hose, probe that area with a sharp screwdriver & see if it is just flashing junk or if it is truly cracked. I doubt it is really cracked, they don't have a history of that.

Or before removing the TB, try cleaning the TB's interior with a good aerosol TB cleaner per the instructions on the can. That will clean up that intake area too, perhaps enough to tell what is really going on there.

kecksnext Thanks for the reply. I didn't dig into it so it may very well be the flashing. Should I clean that stuff out as it's the intake? I can't imagine that stuff getting sucked into the motor is good. Any tips or suggestions on going about this?

doclouie Can't tell if that is a crack or flashing from the sand cast aluminum. Flashing from a poor mold is pretty common and does not pose a problem.
