Do you leave the cover off the rear "cargo hold" (for lack of a better term) as well? I'm getting ready to line the tub of my JK and was trying to figure out what to do about that since I can't line it too and I kind of want it to match the rest of the interior.

As for the hole in side in front of the well. Did you line the inside at all to make it match or just leave it? I'm tyring to figure out how best to do that.

Finally, how did you hide all the electrical? I noticed today the rear brake light cables on mine that run from the front to the rear tail lights kind of hang down from underneath the lip on either side and I don't want my daughter to catch one and rip it out. I'm just curious how you tucked yours away. If you have pictures of those wires, I'd appreciate it.

I'm glad your project turned out so well. It gives me hope mine will too!!!

thaduke2003 I have Herculiner in one, and Rustoleum's stuff in mine. Herculiner is grittier and tougher, Rustoleum's not as harsh to the touch- Mark W.

heh, i woulda thought the liner would have helped with the road noise. but then again you dont have the carpet and stuff back in the jeep. what kind of spray on liner did you use?

thaduke2003 Not all the plastics- the JK looks rather ugly underneath the plastics up front. Also, I left in the plastics around the seatbelts, for safety reasons.
The liner itself does rather little in terms of sound damping. The JK's thicker body panels already do a pretty good job of reducing NVH- Mark W.

guygettnby for the main questions. my stock JK subwoofer did in fact get wet when i had a leak and when i decided to take my top off between rain storms. it worked fine and like mentioned above it is supposed to be marine grade. so you should be good to go for awhile and if not take it to the dealer. tell them you had the top down and it rained... its covered under your 3/36 warrenty. my dealer told me they would replace mine if it didnt work from getting rained on, but every dealer will react differently.

BTW GREAT JOB on the liner!! it looks like you took your time and made sure it was a clean job.

T40 is a torx bit tool. T = Torx 40 = the size of the bit. the JK jeep loves torx bolts for sure. if you ever plan to take some things apart you will need a set of these.

steam That material is for road noise attenuation (reduction), without it would sound you were in a oil drum rolling down the road! Some stainless kitchen sinks use the same principle to reduce the "tub" noise when water runs on the surface. Look under the counter and you should see small black rubber or tark like pads on the bottom....amazing amount of trivial stuff in this posting (it's raining here!)

sand&stone Johnny Dollar, did you ever find something to plug the 2.5" wide & 6.5" long holes on the rear side panels, or what they're called for that matter? I would like to keep mine covered also.

Thanks for the kind words, folks! It took a lot of prep work, but the raptor sprays on very easily once all the hard work is done.

Yeah, that's the area under the rear seat...like that for all the JKs.

For me, I just like having an easy-to-clean surface that will be low maintenance.

Thats there all over in the tub in the JK's. Dont know waht exactly it is..

Johnny Dollar Thanks fellas!

The texture? Hmmm...well, it's not abrasive in any way so you can run your hand along it - it feels like hard plastic. It's shiny too..not like the shine from your clear coat, but it definitely has a gleaming surface.

Johnny Dollar Yeah, I thought about Herculiner, but when I saw some of the really good raptor liner results, I decided that was the way to go. I suppose each liner is a little different, so it's all about finding the one that suits your needs/preferences the most. There are some great raptor liner photos on this thread:

SpongerAtHeart I wish I had known about Raptorliner a week ago. Friday morning I just ordered a Herculiner kit. Let me know how the spraying goes and I might just have to take mine back. Dont know how I like the roll on liner.

Johnny Dollar Update:
The passenger seatbelts are now out, and the center console is ready to come out...just need to loosen the e-brake bolts and remove the 4wd shifter knob.

By the way, I've read a few posts with folks having trouble removing the rear seatbelts. It was no big deal at all. Just be sure to use the appropriate size torx bit, etc. and it will be no problem.

This looks like it will be the week, when I finally get the raptor liner sprayed on - I hope.

Johnny Dollar Okay - the Raptor Liner kit arrived yesterday. Some forum posts indicate that it is hard to tell if the kit you receive will have a spray gun included or not - my kit arrived with the spray gun in a separate box. So it looks like I'm good to go. Now, I need to remove the seatbelts, the left side trim, driver seat and the center console. This is my daily driver, so I might have to wait...grrrr
