computeruser Strange. I've got plenty of thread, and actually spaced the rim away from the carrier with some fender washers instead of trimming the tailgate rubber snubbers...

mrcarcrazy my 31x10.5 BFG all terrains on canyons fit fine. I too would say shave bumpers a little.

IslandTJ If you don't want to cut your spacers, you could go through this route:
Jeep Spare Tire Spacer

Russ13 I agree with everyone else. Shave the bump stops down a little; not too much. It is important that your spare stays in contact with those bump stops after you tighten the lugs. If not you could add unneeded stress to your tailgate hinges.

birdhunter Are Canyons 8" rims
and steelies 7 ??

Ya shave the bumpers

InfernoGirl Did you measure the backspace to see if they're the same? And yeah, not all 31x10.5's are created equal..... Some are closer to 10.5, than others. (I think that's the difference more than the Jeeps being different). But the Caveman is right, trimming the rubber bumpers on the tailgate would be the cheapest, easiest way to fit it....

chucky cheese Funny how you would think all jeeps are the same. Put a rim with the same depth as a Canyon and 31x10.5 on my carrier and it fit fine. Unless you have wider than 10.5. But if you had stock steelies, weird.

cavediverjc Mod your rubber bumpers. Cheapest route.

So I just picked up a set of Canyon wheels with 31" tires and a 30" spare. I ditched the spare and kept one of my old 31" tires for a full size spare and mounted it to the new wheel. Problem is, I went to put it back onto the carrier, and it won't fit! The lugs don't stick through the holes in the wheels far enough to grab any threads. I had stock steelies, and had the exact same tire on the carrier, and I thought the backspacing on the canyons was the same as the steelies. So I'm confused.
I did some searching, and it looks like the easiest way to fix this problem is to shave some height off the rubber bumpers underneath? Any other suggestions, other than spending a bunch of cash on a bumper-mounted carrier?
