I re-geared mine, but when I went to 35's. I would NOT recommend re-gearing for OEM size tires. Waste of money.
As for the Superchips, good call! Do it.
As for warranty, do a web search on the Magnuson Moss Act of 1979. Any modification voids the warranty on a given PART (NEVER the whole vehicle- most misunderstood thing in all of car-dom!!!) ONLY if it can be PROVEN that the aftermarket (modified) part caused the issue in question.
So, re-gearing WOULD void warranty on most of the axle parts. MAYBE you could get around it with SOME dealerships, but don't count on it!
As for the Superchips, it COULD void the warranty on the ECU, engine, transmission, and any electrical parts between. However, you can remove the programming with little to no electrical "signature" that says it was installed.

I have an 08 X with 3:73 gears, 6 speed manual and use 6th regularly, just not for accelerating..
And as far as the Superchips, there is a thread on it where lots of people have said how good it is, but not one of them so far has had a manual trans, and one of the big reasons they all like it is because it changes the shift points on the auto..
Still waiting for someone to say it actually does something for the manual.

The Rubicons are fine with the stock gearing & stock tires.
I agree with the previous post mentioning the Superchips. Its well worth the money.
Save your re-gear for when you get bigger tires.

The rubicon is geared at 4.11 I believe from the factory. You can gear to a 4.88 with a 32" tire and be within the powerband still. What you gain in power though, you'll lose in MPG.
What I suggest you do is leave the gears at 4.11. Buy yourself a superchip. You'll get a power increase, improved MPG, and better throttle response at a fraction of the cost of new gears.
A superchip won't affect the warranty either. If you hit a problem, simply restore the jeep to factory setting before taking it to the dealership.

I suppose I'm wondering if regearing a new Rubi (cause that's what i'm looking at) to lower the overall gearing would / could increase torque at highway speed. No doubt RPM's would be increased and MPG would suffer .
I'm looking at keeping the stock 32's with the budget 2.5 lift. Just wanted a little more psssing power. I'm sure this will totally negate any warranty??

Is 6th cog useless in the new manuals? Anyone regear a 09 or 10 Rubicon to lower the overall gearing to make it have a little more balls? Is that possible, practical or just plain stupid?
