I recently had a week off so I changed out my 2'' suspension lift to a 4'' lift.
I did it by my self. I did the front one day and then the rear the next day.
You will have great pride in doing it yourself. The only thing I recommend is a
coil spring compressor (I picked up for $15). I don't believe I could have
done it myself without them.

|akswinehart||don't know about the zone lifts, but if it has a drop pitman arm be sure to get a pitman arm puller, (rent one at autozone) I wasted 2 hours trying to get mine off before I finally just went and rented one.|

Post up on your local craigslist or something... Say like need some help putting a lift on Jeep, I'm sure there are some jeepers out there who would like to help.. but then there are those crooks and perverts...

|cavediverjc||The lift I put on my Jeep was the first coil spring lift I'd ever done. It was pretty easy and straight forward. I'd recommend doing it yourself. You'll have the pride of ownership that comes with doing a job yourself. If it's a long arm lift that requires welding and such, then I'd recommend having some help or having someone else do the work if you don't have a welder.|

|Beachcomber||It's not hard you can find a lot of web sites that have detailed instructions, much better than anything that will come with the lift kit. I do suggest another car if you need to run out for parts. I did mine without help and it took about 5 hours. but I had a problem getting the front shock nut off. If I didn't have that problem it would have been much quicker.|

Its not "hard". but its long and involved. having a second pair of hands will help, esp if they've done it before.
I wouldn't pay someone 450.00 to do it, that's for sure. But I've done a few in the past.
If your friends are like mine, don't let them crack into the Beer until the work day is over....

Know what you are doing is a majority of the battle. If you try to get involved in a local 4x4 club, you'd probably get quite a bit of offers for help.
$450 labor or $30 bucks (for a 12 pack and pizzas)

|Schmo||It's pretty easy . . . I think it's better to do it yourself and learn about your Jeep. Most the stuff only requires one set of hands, but having a buddy around, even if they don't know anything about wrenching does come in handy in a few spots, but if you have a good jack, ratchet strap, etc you'll probably get by alone.|

How hard is it to put a suspension lift on a TJ? The guy that was supposed to help just went on leave for a month, and now I'm stuck with it myself, or paying $450 for labor. outside of the usual changing my oil/tires etc when needed, i haven't really gotten into working on cars. how difficult is this?
the lift is a 4" suspension lift by Zone.
