I wave at stockers, and built rigs. Posers and mudders, wrecks and those with the dealer sticker still in the window. WJs, CJs, YJs, XJs, TJs and JKs

If it has seven slots, I just wave..

I have wheeled with stockers that would make your jaw drop, so don't believe that because your rig isn't all built up that it isnt capable of doing hella good in a lot of rough places.

BLACKTOOTHGRIN I'll wave to all Wranglers.
There's no need for me to be a snob about anything.
Some people get it, others don't.
It doesn't bother me much one way or another.

The people I find that don't do the wave in my area are the Yuppies and Blue-Hairs.
I don't really have any use for either.
I actually find it rather entertaining.
Those types will just sit there and stare very confused,
trying to figure out who the hell is waving at them.
That's when I really start having fun, and begin waving like a crazy Spastic!
If you guys haven't noticed by now, I kinda get a kick out of messing with people.
All within reason of course.

There is somewhat of an unspoken brother hood in it though.
Well....for some anyways.
I remember a time when I had pulled over to the side of the road
to get something from the cargo area....
I turned on my flashers just for safety.
Not long after, another Jeeper had stopped just to see if I needed any help.
We ended up sitting there, just shoot'n the shit for a good half hour.
And someday...I'll do the same for someone else.

I am familiar with all of these words.......however.......the way you've arranged them are confusing without some form of context.

RhcSavage21 was a nice day out today so i took my jeep out for a ride and waved to several jeeps,

3-jk
2-tj
1-cj

out of all of them i received 1 wave back and i was surprised it was from a jk.
i think i have had enough disappointment today I'm going to cry now.

candy803 Hi! I'm new here and don't have my jeep yet however, I did have a CJ5 12 years ago...which I still miss. I will be getting an Islander (2door) in July. I may not have had a Jeep in a long time but, they have always been my favorite!

I have a friend who just bought a new Commander, Cherokee or something like that and she would qualify as a mall junkie Mom who wouldn't even know about the wave. She gets pissed off when they come over and my dog pees all over her tire! Her husband has to wash the tires when they get home!

Even though it will be stock...I will drive it in any mud I can find!
So, if you see me and my big dog Abbie...I'll be will waving

ubengineer I go to school in buffalo NY and the wranglers and cj's all have except for the female drivers (not including the 2 exceptions that i remember that both the females happen to be really hot and not driving a jk.) im back on long island now for the summer and no one waves it pisses me off. to me the new wranglers (jk) are becoming more for on road then off) i see so many hummers that people never take off road and those pick ups with the big rims and thin tires. wranglers are meant to be taken off road. to me when you get a jeep you become part of that group and i see some of your points that your not driving a jeep for looks and don't feel you have to wave but its courtesy and your now part of a group or so called cult. its a sign of respect. the first week i got my tj i drove 8hrs across the state and i got waves all over. its something nice and i think we need to make more owners aware of it. i stop and talk with owners on the road that i never meet anymore but as a owner i feel comfortable that i can ask any wrangler or talk to any wrangler on the road. If you see a wrangler you should wave. (my belief)

Bighorn Since getting back into a Jeep, I have noticed less waving. I think 2 out of 10 so far. I still initiate the wave though. Maybe it is a local thing.
I remember getting my first Jeep and the first few times I got the wave. At first I was trying to figure out, Who was that?...But shortly thereafter it clicked and I have been a waver ever since. Generally it is just to the CJ's, YJ's, TJ's and JK's...maybe because they are so distinct.
I like to think we are sharing a common thing...What a fun way to get around!
Whether it is just around town or rock climbing or mudding or for whatever else you use your Jeep. I have to say I have had at least 50 people tell me how they wish they could get a Jeep or regaling me with Jeep stories from years gone bye...and none of this Jeep thing is elitist at all. It is more like we have found, I don't know, Freedom perhaps....

Don't worry too much about mods. I took a young girl with a stock TJ Sahara up into the the hills where my buddy and I play and she did real well. I was actually surprised. She did spin her tires just a pinch but that was due to the fact that they were stock and wore down some. Still, she ventured on some decent terrain.

joemd60 I was shocked when the pretty lady in the 4 door JK gave me a little smile and wave, which of course I returned with a smile.

cavediverjc Solution: Mod your Jeep. Then you'll get all the waves you desire.....
05-25-2010 06:50 PM
dcoy I have had my JK for approximately a month and live in northeastern Indiana. I could not wait to be a part of the "Jeep wave," but have found that very rarely does anyone wave back and if they do it is seldom a woman...I hope they are not getting the wrong impression by my wave...I also have noticed that since my JK is not lifted yet and is sitting on stock wheels and tires I don't get much notice from other Jeep drivers...kind of a let down. My wife asked me to stop waving, because people were looking at me weird!
05-25-2010 05:22 PM
biffman Why all the hate for the JK? I'm starting to get an inferiority complex going here. I got an Unlimited because everyone in my family enjoys going off road and riding with the top off. I have 3 daughters, so I needed a jeep that seats 5. I wave to every jeep I see and rarely get a wave in return. I can pretty much tell at a distance who will and who won't return a wave (I'm talking to you lady on the cell phone), but I still initiate the wave to everybody. No, I don't have any mods completed yet but they're coming. Just because I'm driving a stock JK Unlimited (and a Sahara at that) and I may be driving in a mall parking lot (my daughters all love to ride in the jeep no matter where we go) doesn't mean that I won't or don't go off-road because we love doing that as well.

Hardermods I was almost ready to stop waving to the J/ks then today I happened to pass one that waved first..... I almost crashed in shock!

jakeysnake I wave at all Jeeps. It doesn't bother me if you don't wave back its all about respecting the best vehicle on the road no matter how its used. Respect the Jeep never mind the driver if they don't wave back. I would love a new JK that had good road manners and mild modifications and I would still wave at ya even if I wasn't in my TJ.
05-25-2010 12:05 AM
SUBZEROCOOL I stopped waving to anyone in a CJ or JK, those who wave the most are YJ's and TJ's. Everyone else is too cool to wave. This comes from years of waving to fellow jeepers.

Oswald I was walking down the street with my friend on the way to his house, and a Jeep was coming down the road. Instinctively, I waved, forgetting that I wasn't driving. She actually pulled over, walked over to me and just said "So wheres your Jeep?". We had a good laugh over it.

I think being raised in So. Cal. makes a person naturally suspicious. As I mentioned earlier, CA is a trendy state and it is seems difficult to sense who is genuine and who is trying to "play the part" as you pass each other on the road. One has to remember that So. Cal. is filled with actors which are mostly bad ones that don't give a hoot about tradition. Even the latest Jeep commercials with the chicks show it as a casual street mobile and not an off road vehicle and without a Jeep wave. Maybe we should contact them to make a commercial reestablishing the wave and what it is actually intended for. Hmmm, just a thought.

To me, you can sense the person coming along that you would want to wave to and get a response. The same goes for bikes. I ride a Harley and I get sick of every other bike giving me the wave. I don't ride my Harley just to be cool, I have ridden these for 32 years and I could care less who rides what. I almost appreciate a fellow biker coming the opposite direction that does not think he has to wave, we nod. When my wife is on the back, I have her do the wave thing if she feels like it. That way I am off the hook. And yes, I live in Southern Calif. and there are a lot of dicks on the road that deserve a lot more than the wave.
Well, even though they may look that way doesn't mean anything. Right now, my Jeep is almost all the way stock, and I don't want it to be that way, but right now I am spending all my $ on new parts and fixing mechanical problems, so I can't afford everything that I want to make her off-road capable. So, even if it looks like we don't go off-road, the truth is that I WANT to but can't afford it and she isn't capable right now. So we kinda look like (above said) "a little teenie bopper puttin around town to look cute in a jeep that has never been farther off road than her driveway" but that doesn't mean anything! I am driving a Jeep and it doesn't matter, we should all stick together. I wave at EVERYONE in a CJ or Wrangler even at old Willy's, and give them a chance to wave back, but if they don't that's fine, and if they do... well, it makes me happy! I rarely get the wave initiated by other Jeepers, and i wonder if the reason is because we look the way we do... but hopefully that will change soon... once all my mechanical repairs are done and I know it is safe and sound mechanically!

Please wave at everyone!
