|Garyk||If you're sure the center pin is seated and you're measuring to the same spot on each side of the axle, something is bent. Just for the hell of it, try taking off the wheels and measure to the center of the axle/hub from the center of the front frame bracket .|

I would get them as aligned as soon as possible. If one rear wheel leads the other it could pull to one side or the other depending on which wheel leads. In our modified race car, we purposely set one wheel leading to make the car turn left easier, depending on the track banking, but this is with locked rear axles. Your Jeep will dog-track as well.

Rear axle alignment
After installing a new lift kit (2 1/2") and centering the steering. Did some measurements and found the rear axle to be off by 3/4" measuring form the forward spring eye center to the face of the axle tube (right side being 3/4" less than left). How close should this be? There was minimal center pin protrusion above the 2.5 deg aluminum axle shims.
