Yea it seems like it to me too,b/c then I would have two jeeps.Even if I change my mind and I don't want it.It would probably be easier to sell than this atv I got.

jeepguy29651 I just looked on jeep that I am looking at trading my atv for is $4500 in good cond. and $4000 in poor cond. Not bad considering.

1BLKJP Hell, if your other TJ is a 6 then build that one as your toy and make the trade for the 97 and use it to daily drive. That 4 cyl will get you pretty good MPG on the road without big tires on it and 31's aren't big.

Adventurous I paid $3,200 for a 98 TJ with soft top and hard top ,2.5 Liter,5 spd...from a friend who was going to trade it. I bought the 2" lift from OME for $700 and alloy rims from a Wrangler Sport with 31" tires for $ total of about $4,150. This one only had 78k miles on it. It sounds like $4,500 is fairly reasonable for what you're getting, especially if you could only get $3,800 for the ATV.

jeepguy29651 My jeep is a 6 cyl.I wanted to sell it for cash, but I was told that I might get $3800 out it,top dollar.Atv's don't hold value very well,so I figured even if I get it and then change my mind about keeping it,could I get my money back out of it?That's the main thing, the jeep would probably bring more money around here than the atv would. I really like the fact of having another money pit to drive off road though I think,I guess b/c I'm not sure of the interest for another jeep other than to go out on the trails. This one has already been on the trails,I don't think that the jeep I currently own has ever been off road at all.It was used when I bought it,but very well taken care of.It has prisine interior. He said the carpet in the other one was a little wore out around the well wheels from loading and unloading stuff out of it all time.He says that it hasn't been driven in awhile though b/c now he has a lifted dodge ram.He just keeps it running he said by driving it around a few miles a week.
Thanks for the help so far though.I guess my question should is it worth it to pay $4500 for lifted 4 cyl. jeep,b/c that's the way it would really come out to?

DocG2828 Hmmmm....since you already own a Jeep.....I'd be inclined to say sell the Yamaho for the cash, then look for something else. Might want to do a KBB on that Jeep. I've never driven the 4 cyl.....but if its going to be your offroad toy, might be worth finding a 6cyl.

Is your current TJ a 4 or 6? If you have a 6, you could turn your current TJ into the off-road toy, and trade up for this other one as your DD.

jp'rs_peep'rs I'm in agreement with Erickpl.
Only U can say what it is, or is not worth. But, for me I would sell the atv and purchase another jeep with a I6 4L with lesser milage and newer. Thats jmbho!

jeepguy29651 I currently have a 97 TJ hard top that I am installing a lift on tomorrow and I love it.I never really ride my atv,my kids love it,but they never get to ride it either b/c they are too small to ride by themselves.
I just don't have a way to haul it the trails anymore b/c I traded my 2001 Ford Sporttrac for the Jeep I have now.I just love Jeeps in general, but I want some advic to make sure that I am not going to get ripped off.
The second Jeep would be for my own personal toy.The 4 cyl just worries me a bit.Is that a decent motor? I will look toward a swap one day.I just want something to play offroad in or something of that nature. From what I've read on some past forums,They are still trail capable.I just read one old thread with Mr. Clifford(i think)I really liked the jeep he is driving 70 down the highway,I assume that it was a 4 cyl as it was before he did the complete LT1 swap and it was nice before also.

erickpl Ultimately, only YOU can answer if it is worth it to you. Do you use the ATV much or enjoy it with the family? Have you been wanting a Jeep?

I have a 97 2.5L with manual and it is a nice offroad machine, and does well around town, but a bit slow on the highway. I have about 109k on mine and it is in good shape, but a lot of it is aftermarket now.

I got mine in 03 with 83k for about 6k, so 4.5k sounds in the ballpark, maybe a bit high value wise. Keep in mind, in 97, the top was NOT sailcloth and that was the FIRST thing I replaced on mine.

If I didn't ride the ATV, I'd probably do the swap. I can get the family in the Jeep, not as easily on an ATV. And I can use the Jeep on more than just a trail.

Got a Quick Question,I need a quick answer ASAP

Ok,I got an offer to trade my 2006 Yamaha Bruin,2x4,with 2000 lb winch,FMF pipe, jet kit,and front rack bag with like ten hrs on it for a 97 TJ soft top,2.5 Liter,5 spd ,2" lift,31" tires, quick discos, and I think that maybe it.It has 110,000 miles on it.It's red, with a tan soft top.He says pretty good cond. with no leaks. He says he is a big time camper, outdoors guy.If this thing looks good,is it worth the trade.I am asking about $4500 for my atv.He says that he wants $5000 for the Jeep.He say that the soft top is in pretty good cond.It just has some scratches on the plastic windows, everything works he says.I would go check it out first though.Does this seem like a decent deal or what though?
Thanks for everyones help in advance.
I am susposed to receive some pics tonight and then make palns to look at it.He is from Charlotte,NC.
