I'm blessed with sticker on both sides of my visors. Oh, and no rearview at all. The PO showed it to me when I bought the Jeep. It's in the center console. Barely obstructs my view at all in there.

Elwood The Daystar dash tray that goes in the center of the dash is the best $24 I have ever spent on my Jeep.

Killjoyxero I know it's been awhile but..... How about the big boy seat extenders? You guys talk about being 6'4", well so am I, and the BEST thing I EVER did to my TJ was letting that driver seat track back another 4". I actually have to move my seat up a little now. Best mod ever. $60 and 30 minutes.

I too am 6'4". Flipped my rearview and made quite a bit of difference. I removed my visors because the passenger side mounting bracket broke where it screws into the windshield frame.

Upgrade-tires

I just bought a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited with a 3 1/2 Rubicon Express Lift. It currently has 17" wheels. I want to know if I can safely put 35" tires on it without haivng to do additional modifications?

I did mine a month or so ago. They had bothered me for two years.. scuffed them, washed with comet, primed and flat blacked. Took all of 10 minutes.

rketr Don't know about the doubling, but I did notice a power boost when putting in a banks cat back and an Airaid intake. May not have been a ton, but it was notable.

stevens243 ^Post the Dyno on that upgrade. Would love to see someone prove that an exhaust, throttle body and CAI do anything to a Jeep, let alone "almost double" anything.

cntrybmpkn86 Trust me I have an 02 TJ with a 4.0. I sank it in 5' of water. Water was just over the top of the dash. Drained the fluids changed the stereo and on the road again. Never had any problems with anything being wet or actually soaked. But the best thing I did to it was putting a banks monster exhaust on it. A huge power gain and a whole lot better fuel mileage. It almost doubled but i have the bigger throttle body and cold air intake. I would recomend starting there.

As I always say, drive it as it sits right now and adjust things as you see fit. You can get 100 answers from 100 people about what to do first, but it all depends on what >YOU< do with it. The best things about a Jeep is that it becomes part of you (if you let it). Enjoy it and make it unique unto you.

Geoff@Bestop Back to the point:

I think the best thing by FAR to add to any Jeep is lots and lots of gas. (Oh and the entire Bestop catalog of tops and accessories. But that goes without saying.)

Drive your Jeep. Find a bad road and drive it. Find a worse road and drive that. Getting stuck is just the temporary cessation of forward momentum. No big deal.

Join a local club and go with them - then getting stuck is even less an issue. Experienced Jeepers almost invariably like having newbies along. It's someone who will actually listen to us babble!

As for modifications to the jeep... like everyone else has said there isnt really much.... I just bought mine a month ago, and a nice set of drive lights on the front, i have the kc daylights, and light bar, along with a door for your gas cap, that way you wont get it full of snow, or mud, and risk not being able to open it or getting crud into your gas... I also have a set of 31x10.5 tires with an offset and that makes life better....

you also can not forget the steering wheel cover!

stevens243 Do nothing to the Jeep. It is more than capable of doing everything you plan to do with it and doesn't need any modifications to do it.

At most, if you ever plan on doing a very rough trail and want the Jeep to articulate well, make sure you have the tools and material to disconnect the front sway bar and stow the links or if you REALLY feel the need to spend some money, but a quick disconnect set.

Airing down tires REALLY helps on tougher/wet trails and that may mean an air compressor to air back up.

Otherwise, just recovery gear: strap, shovel, maybe a come along and if the trail is tough, go with someone, have a communication plan and let folks know where you are going etc.

Have fun with the Jeep. Don't feel like you need to build it to do what you said you are wanting to do. You don't. When/if you ever want to do tougher trails, then build away!

T-BONE N BIXBY Chadwick drove his jeep into a small pond. His point was to win his girlfriends heart by showing her that jeeps are amphibious machines.....sorry, that HIS jeep was an amphibious machine because of his snorkel kit.
Turns out that small pond was a large lake, and he took it farther than he ever had before, and the jeep sunk!!....that's right, I said SUNK!! And that's not the best part....the best part is the fact that he, nor the local dive team couldn't find the jeep for about 3 days, I think.
Story told in a nutshell, of course. It has the most pages of any post EVER that I've seen.

Geoff@Bestop Chadwick was a nice young man who stopped by for advice one day on drying out his Jeep. It got a little damp he said, then he said well, it went in a pond. Then he posted pictures of the pond. Lake Michigan-ish. Then he said he thought his snorkel would take care of it, then he mentioned it was under 10 feet of water for a couple of days... you get the idea.

Turns out that the people here on WF, while helpful, may have made a little sport with the situation. (not me! I was totally sweet!).

And now "chadwick" is a verb. As in "don't chadwick that Jeep" means don't drive it under water.

Search for the thread. It's good reading.

JDsDream I drive an 06, 4.0 and the only problem that I have encountered besides a dead battery is a leaking rear axle seal. As far as water is concerned, it has never caused a problem for me. I aim for water (and mud).

pakman55 poor chadwick. Two free mods are flipping the rearview mirror and the visors. seat covers are nice. depends how much you have to play with money wise.

What's this referance to "chadwick"? ive seen alot of users use it. i don't get it

oranjeep First, welcome to the insanity. If you are using it as a DD and an occasional trail buggy, you really don't have to do anything to it at all. Unless you plan to "Chadwick" your Jeep, don't worry about splashing it with some water.
Oh, and don't forget to wave.
