|plac||only way you might have saved it.. turned engine off in time under water.. pull it out without starting it. remove all spark plugs, THEN turn it over. then instead of over-compression wrecking your engine, it would squirt all the water out the spark plug holes.|

|Bennny||Your motor is done, in some way shape or form. Don't take this the wrong way, but insurance covers stupidity. It's useless trying to change the oil in hopes of fixing it, especially if you drove it after there was water in the motor to get it home. Take it to a shop and call insurance. A few people on a fellow JK forum have had insurance cover their hydrolocked motors.|

Please don't take this as a smart @$$ comment, because it's not intended to be one. My only advice is to stay away from mudholes on tank trails. There are some insane places on those things. I've been through some in HMMWV's fully equipped with snorkels and extended exhaust pipes and still didn't feel confident. Just like a winch will give you false confidence sometimes, so will a snorkel.

Need Advice, 2010 Wrangler Water Hole Mistake
I need advice on a mess up that I did today. I was out on a tank trail on Fort Riley and went through what appeared to be a small water hole. It wasn't I sucked up some water into the motor. The jeep shuttoff as soon as I got 30feet out of the hole. I took off the Aircleaner cover and water was in the box. I let the vehicle dry out for about an hour. I had to tap on the starter to get it to crank over. Once it started all I'm hearing in either a cracked piston or rocker and lifter noise I nursed it back to my barracks. I pulled the spark plugs and cranked it over. No water came out. The block isn't cracked. It just sounds like a diesel motor. I checked the oil and there is a little bit of water in the oil but not much. Tomorrow, I'm going to change the oil and let it run for 5 minutes, then change the oil again and see if that helps any. Then go from there. The Jeep is new with 8,000 miles on it. I don't know if I can get this fixed under warranty. With this being a jeep. It shouldn't be this easy to get water into the motor. The water was only 1/2 - 3/4 of the way up my tires. I wasn't no were near up to he inlet on the breather. I know next time I go through water I will have a snorkel installed. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
