flatline If your going to wheel in big rocks yes. but a SOA is expensive compared to a standard lift kit. I'm a machinist so I could make some of the parts needed. If your just doing fire trails and street driving do the spring under, extend your bump stops so if you do wheel hard you don't flatten out the springs.

Maddogmick I just did a whole forum post on this I have the exact same year and jeep.
It boils down to money and how involved you want to get.
I personally decided to go with the RC 4inch lift kit (not SOA) with the z9000shock upgrade, this way its cheaper gets me on the road until I have driven it for a while, this is my first jeep ever and just want to get the feel for it.
I will probably decide later in a year or so what I really want, its cheap its cheerful and easy to do.
Good luck, the guys and gals here are great and the best place for information

zacharytyoung So you would recomend the SOA?

flatline I've done both. most people think spring under is cheaper, but since I wheel the springs would go flat in less than 2 years. have to replace springs $600. did that 3 times. went to soa with Rubicon 1.5 springs. on my 3rd year with them and still going. I think it rides better now, and I removed the sway bar, track bar, and pan hard bar. Yes I have to drive slower on tight turns. the other savings with soa is I dont have to keep replaceing my exhaust and other components from cruching them on the rocks.

Lift decision

I have a 1989 White Jeep wrangler and im having some issues on deciding what lift i want. I am trying to decide whether to go with a 4in Lift(Skyjacker probably) or the SOA lift system from Rubicon, I dont know many people with the experience to tell me about about the SOA system. I know there is going to be other hidden charges. But my question is which would you preffer, i am open to all opinions, except to change it over to coils because i bought a yj for a reason. LEAF SPRINGS!!
