|HyperBuzzin||As I've said here before, just look at what happens when you use the windshield washer while driving down the road..... the fluid sprays all over the hood (and some on the windshield), proving that the scoop/vent cover facing rearwards is better than forwards for more air intake.|

x2, towards the windshield. It works better and keeps your feet dry

It works in the same way that cowl induction hoods work. There is an area of high pressure at the base of the windshield that the scoop takes advantage of. Automakers have been using this concept for YEARS. Remember the 1st Gen Camaros? ('67-'69) GM was using that concept back in the late 60's. Facing rearward (towards the windshield) is the correct way of mounting that scoop.
-EDIT- Also, look at a lot of the professional drag cars. Most have some form of cowl induction/forced air induction using air from the cowl.

|05wranglerdean||the jeep windshield creating a high pressure area would be more force than pointing forward and catching air direct?? dont want to get all science class here, just trying \to decide|

|Jp90Talon||I placed it forward for the simple fact that if it was facing the windshield, it would be a pita to clean out any crap that got into it. Thats all it was for me. I wouldnt have purchased one at all but I got ot for free after buying a bunch of parts from someone local.|

|phottomatt||Facing the opening to the rear allows air in and keeps dirt/rain etc. out due to the aerodynamic forces involved. Facing the opening forward obviously forces the air in at a higher volume for better flow to the cabin.|

|Ageless Stranger||I wonder why some have them and some don't. The clean freak in me thinks it would be good to have one because you could stuff the scoop with foam while on the trail, so you could run the vent without ingesting a lot of dust into your blower/duct system.|

Hood Vent Scoop question
hey everyone. wondered why some people face the scoop of the vent forward and some people point the opening towards the windshield. wouldnt the opening pointing out push more air???
and do these help or hinder?
