|02Prove||Where'd ya get the pink rock rings Kate?|
03-29-2012 09:46 AM
I've been pretty busy. To tell the truth about all the time I have to keep in touch is with friends on FB and on our club website.
We'd been getting ready for and finally did put our house on the market. We're headed back to the PNW.
03-29-2012 08:58 AM
Hey, Kate, haven't seen ya on here much or on IAJ...
Jeep is looking great!
03-29-2012 07:17 AM
Well, it's that time again.
Since this thread started, Ajax has been through some changes so I suppose an update would be in order.
OBM made a front bumper for me awhile back, it's slick and TOUGH. I clobbered a Toyota with it and all it did was scratch the paint. The Toyota didn't fare as well I'm afraid.
As many of you already know I went to a full Metalcloak fender & flare system last year. If it hadn't been for the support of the folks in WF it most likely would have been this year before I got to it.
Now, back to the whole decal topic. I've been running with no decals for quite awhile and frankly, it looks a little naked.
This is what's in the works.
Still on the printer in this image, I hope to have them by Friday.
I finally found some replacement rock rings for my DC-1s. The old ones were so beaten up there was no pounding them flat again.
I'll post some pics when I get it all put together and pretty again.

|Kilroy||RUBICON logos mean "Steal Me" in Southern California.|
06-13-2010 05:50 PM
I don't think it would look as good on black, I'm just curious.
05-31-2010 11:14 AM
This is what I was referring to Kate:
1998 Jeep Wrangler Touch Up Paint Colors
See how there is 2 different color codes for Stone White?
And you have PW1 also?
The newer TJ's have a brighter white than mine.
Mine is more of a dirty white, if that makes sense.
I like the tubes and flat fenders too.
If you play in the rocks alot,
it would make more sense to get the tubes for protection right?
05-31-2010 10:52 AM
Umm... yes, stone white... color code is... umm... lemmie go look....
Although I like the look of painted flares on other Jeeps, it's not the look for me.
Hopefully I'll be putting tubes on mine or a set of these.
I'm having trouble deciding between the two. There is the weight issue with tubes and the transferrance of impact from the flare to the tub/body. With the Bushwacker flares, you get the look, but no more protection than you would have with stock flares really...
I just don't know.
05-31-2010 09:56 AM
That's just terrible.
I don't think I could even deface an enemy's property like that!
Well....maybe I could.
Speaking of color though....
What color is your Rubi?
I think it's called Stone White, but what is the color code?
Reason being is that Bushwacker makes some pocket flares that are painted to match.
They advertise that they match colors from 97-06.
The only "white" option is Stone White.
My 98 is a different type of white than the newer models,
and I think they're being a little misleading.
I have the PW1.
05-31-2010 08:58 AM
Here now! I kinda like the wheels the way you did them!
I was playing with the guys awhile back and threatened to paint my whole Jeep hot pink.
If I paint my wheels black, I might paint my rock rings red, but that's about as close to pink as I think I will ever get.
Green is more my color. If I had to repaint my Jeep and choose a different color than white - which I love - I would go with Rescue Green. Something about that color makes my knees wobbly.
Poor Ajax... he would be SO humiliated if I put pink on him. He's my war horse, a "Manly Jeep" after all.
05-31-2010 12:59 AM
When you do it,
just make sure to buy an extra fine brush
so you can add all those important highlights!
Just teasing ya.
Some people are actually bold enough to do it though.
I found this one on AutoTrader last year!
To each their own, I guess.
05-30-2010 10:37 PM
|InfernoGirl||Go for it Kate, you have the skills, and they would be great looking!|
05-30-2010 10:20 PM
I have one sanded down. It's one that got bent on a mean ol' rock awhile back and I replaced it. Seemed like the perfect guinnea pig.
05-30-2010 09:20 PM
It doesn't look like that on an everyday basis though.
Just after some TLC.
I know this might be a rather cheezy version of your idea,
but it's more for reference:
Diamond Plate Rip*::*Rips / Torn Metal*::*Weston Signs Inc
If you really wanted it done, I think this guy could do it.
Since he's already got the 'torn' design completed,
it's just a matter of filling the inside part with whatever is desired.
To 'delete' the inside and just add 'RUBICON',
or combine with Diamond Plate,
seems like it would be pretty easy.
If you're still interested in doing something like that,
the owners name is Chris.
You might shoot him a message or give em a call.
Not to mention, SCARY AS HELL!
They might turn out very nice.
Go for it!

|InfernoGirl||LOL Kate! In pink even.....|
05-30-2010 06:55 PM
I thought about going with something like this
for just long enough to drive the guys in the club NUTS over it...
but it would be a waste of time & money.
Funny as heck though. I know I would get a raise out of them
05-30-2010 06:46 PM
But while scrounging through my font files I found the flame one and it just kind of clicked. It's SO similar to the factory font, but with a little zing.
05-30-2010 06:44 PM
BTG, you and Kate are killing me with those white TJ's.... Love, love, love a white and black TJ...
Kate, I really like the flame decals, go for it.. Best thing about fairly simple decals is they are not terribly expensive. I had a huge skull and crossbones on the rear window of my Tahoe several years ago, that thing (2 colors) was expensive.... Then hubby went all retard on me and made me take it off.... Still miss that one...
If your wheels are pitting and nasty then by all means paint them... You have the skills I know, and I'm sure you've already made up your mind to do it. The only other thing I could suggest would be to polish them up nice, sell them and pick up some soft 8's. I know you've mentioned that you really wanted some. 5 will run you just over $200, I'm sure you could get that outta your DC's....
05-30-2010 06:44 PM
THAT is just flat sexy!
Your Jeep is so clean it makes mine look like a piglet.
Way back when I first started thinking of doing something different to mine, I desperately wanted a "torn" look with something like diamond plate and the RUBICON peeking out from under it.
Never fond a place that could do it for me though, so I gave up.
Yes on the "flames" the white would be as pictured.
05-30-2010 06:43 PM
Since you have the font you posted,
you probably already have this one too,
but in case you don't:
05-30-2010 06:26 PM
When they cut it,
it should be cut so your paint shows through as the flames right?
Sorry to hear about the wheels.
But if they're corroding, you gotta do something about it.
I've always liked those DC-1's.
Never had the chance to get a set though.
Now they've been replaced with the DC-2, which I really DON'T like.
There's only a few changes to them,
but they stick out like a sore thumb IMO.
05-30-2010 06:02 PM
Thank you BTG!
Yes, you are right about the font being elongated. It had to be, much to my dismay, in order to stretch out and be the right size on the side of the hood.
I HAVE found a new one though, think this is what I will go to next.
Prolly get it ordered next week. You can have them cut at any vinyl shop and they should have a selection of fonts for you to choose from.
I'm SERIOUSLY considering painting my wheels black. They have a lot of rock rash on them and are starting to corrode.
05-30-2010 05:54 PM
"Lets see how many pics we can get her to post before she catches on! "
Here's my OBM with the tire carrier & bumper nearly complete:
05-30-2010 05:45 PM
but that's a nice write up Kate.
I had a bunch of people asking how I did the graphics on my hood a while back.
I never thought about doing a write up on it, good job.
The only big difference is that I didn't use liquid for the application process.
I really like your Rig btw.
The DC-1's, along with the rocker and corner guards give a nice contrast.
However, it looks like hers was stretched and narrowed a bit.
05-30-2010 05:42 PM
Next project for him is my new front bumper.
Thank you for your kind words, made me all proud and stuff *aww shucks!*
05-30-2010 05:40 PM
Congrats on the new Jeep!
Asking for photos of someone's Jeep is kind of like asking to see pictures of their grandchildren, heck no I don't mind! I actually have more pics of my rig than I do of my grandchildren. Pitiful, isn't it.
For some reason, today it looked short to me in this picture... go figure.
