|EdJonesJeeper||the rs9000 are sooo stiff, I can't even notice I'm not running a rear sway bar. I can see how softer shocks would make a hugh differance.|

Without realizing it, I broke a rear antiswaybar link years ago while offroading. Breaking one link disables the entire antiswaybar and completely removes its effect. Driving back home through my local mountains, I must have stopped 3-4 times to look at my suspension to see why it felt so loosey-goosey/scarey feeling on the mountain turns. I didn't figure out what happened until I got home and could crawl underneat to see what was wrong.

DONE!!!!!! And no rear sway bar for now. Gonna see how that treats me on road.

i would set the control arms with the jeep on the ground.
Sorry, the brackets i was referring to were the shock relocation brackets that move the axle end out.

Should I have it on the ground?Attachment 21094
|06-29-2010 10:04 PM|
so upper control arms should be the same length correct?
And what relocation brackets are you referring too? Spring hanger/frame relocation?

|tazmann910||did not have the trac bar issue, but did have the shock issue and installed the relocation brackets.|

Did you notice with the upper control arms that driver side wants to be longer than passenger with the d44? Im' doin the swap now and track bar seems to want to pull the driver side further away. About a half an inch. Also bent the shocks in at the spring hanger.

|distortedtj||Yeah they sell the AF surplus ones all the time. Tell me he kept the desiel in it.|

Actually, you both are right. That is a YJ tub that was cut and modified and stretched. The Tub had 8 inches added on to it.
This unit is a CJ10a and was a tug unit for a military base here in the Atlanta area. This one was not 2 wheel drive, the transfer case was welded into 4 LO, which my buddy rebuilt the transfer case and added a doubler.

|distortedtj||^^^ if it's a real CJ-10 as it looks as it is , nope. All unique to the rig. Had it's own pickup bed like a truck does seperate from the cab. Most all CJ-10 were produce and sold outside of the US. None where sold in the US. A version of the CJ-10 was sold to the US airforce as a CJ10a A bobbed 2wd desiel version used to pull aircraft.|

|AzTJ||That is awesome. That's a YJ tub isn't it?|

Rig looks good...well minus the spare.
|05-31-2010 05:12 PM|
My buddies CJ10 is very cool, we have nicknamed it "Mater". If you want to know more about it let me know, it has a pretty cool story.

OK so you asked for some pictures, well here are a few and a link to the others of what your garage will look like when you:
Swap both axles from a D30/D35 with 3.73 gears with a HP30/D44 with 4.88 gears and a detroit in the rear, put in a SYE kit, tom woods rear driveshaft, 2" pucks on top of my 3" springs, new stainless steel brake lines in the front and rear, new shoes and drums in the rear, and a dropped pitman arm.
Here are some pictures of what a TJ looks like with no axles underneath it.

Cool...now you can come put my D44's in for me...I'm tired of axle swaps.
I have parts stacked up in the garage, just no motivation to install them.
