HansB Drove my Escalade EXT from NJ to NC to High-Country 4x4 where they took my EXT in trade on my new customized Wrangler JK. Great bunch of guys to work with!

adrenaline I just bought mine last night ready to be pissed, because of how you were treated, but was pleasantly surprised. It was cleaned, and tank full. It was all smooth no hassles, and as I was walking out the door they told me that they forgot to give me my free hat, and immediately took me into parts, and let me pick out a hat. It was unexpected and really cool! A+

kawasakizx636 I bought mine online 3 weeks ago from a dealer that's 475km away. He had some old man deliver it to my place.

aelwero I guess I picked a good dealer

I specifically demanded a RHD, and they spent 3 days finding one 500 miles away and asked if I could sign the financing before they went and picked it up, because they didn't want to get stuck with an odd Jeep. When I asked trailered or driven, the guy looked at me like I was crazy and said trailered . Halfway to wherever they went to get it, the other dealer SOLD IT. So they came to my house to apologize in person and ask what I wanted to do (I had already contracted it, remember) and I told them to just find another one, because RHD sports don't come with ANY optionals at all, so whatever they found was going to be the same as one from anywhere else.

At this point, the guy asked if I wanted to use his wife's rubi in the meantime, and explained that it only had 2K miles on it... I declined (I can't really call that a "good" thing, not so nice for his wife, but he got points for trying really hard). So they spent 5 more days tracking down another one, 2 days in transit (780 miles from here to get it!) and since I had called them about 50 times, they called the second it pulled in, and asked if they could have a day to prep it and I said "I'll be right over" and hung up

So I pull in, and there's 3 guys out there fussing with it (they did a rush job for the crazy jeeper) and the manager came out appologizing because there were scratches in the windshield, and asked again for another day so he could replace it. I went and looked and the scratches were on the top, were hardly noticable, and being a short guy, I didn't care. It's not like it was going to go very long without a scratch anyways, it's a Jeep So I told him not to sweat it, and tried to get keys... no dice... didn't have gas in it.... told him I understood and I'd fill it up and he flat out balked and refused to give me the keys. They filled it up at their pump and were still trying to buy time to clean carpets and stuff, and I actually had to argue a little to get my keys from em.

Mr. Sinister mine was fully detailed, but only had a 1/4 tank of gas. i had been waiting for delivery for an hour at the dealership, so i just wanted to get out of there. the salesman did show me all about the top and everything though.

Jkw When I bout my jk a couple months ago and when I got down the road I realized there was no gas in it either my folks just got a new car not long ago and theirs didn't come fueled either I'm in la so I don't know if they stopped doing it here or what...

dadrunamok Test-drove a red 2-door Sport and then saw a surf blue one. I fell in love with the color, but they didn't have one on the lot. We made a handshake deal on the spot and the sales manager found me one about 50 miles away. I had to wait for them to get it through the traffic.

I made the deal at around 2:00 and drove off the lot at 6:30. But it was worth it. They didn't try any funny stuff even though nothing was in writing.

I left the lot with a full tank of gas, complete demonstration of how to put down the soft top, including an explanation of the "gotchas" that you experienced guys know about. They also put locks on all of the wheels, including the spare, and threw in a little bottle of zipper lubricant ("just so you don't think I'm trying to sell you something", the service manager said).

Yeah, I'll go back there.

Ok I am finally home from the "Stan", that's Afghanistan for those who don't already know. About my experience picking up my 2010 Unlimited Rubicon, it was the best car buying experience I have ever been through. I am not claiming the Jeep to be a car, I am just saying. I pulled into the dealer and there it was sitting right out front cleaned and detailed. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. So as I stated in my last post, I made the purchase through Overseas Military Car Sales where I made the complete deal with the sales person by email. That might sound crazy but it was the complete opposite. As for picking up my Jeep, I signed about 3 papers and I was out of the dealership driving home with my 3 year old son Dito(nickname) in the back seat chilling in his car seat loving life reunited with his dad and with the new Jeep. I got a few picks of the Jeep in my profile, check them out and let me know! Thanks. I forgot to mention that floor mats, the freedom top panel holders, and two grab handles came in the Jeep also.

Mine came with storage bags for the hard top. I didn't get any rubber/slush mats. I thought that was because I bought the base model. I bought the rubber mats within the first week. The interior and exterior were very clean. The tank was full. I didn't think to check the oil. I will now. Maybe this is a rookie mistake. My first oil change will be free.

Usually, the dealer will send a survey about the experience. I'm surprised the guys don't have an exit checklist.

DitosDad I am deployed in Afghanistan right now I go home in about two weeks. A few months back I started the vehicle purchase with an Overseas Military Cars Sales program where I got a good deal on a 2010 Unlimited Rubicon. Now here I am a couple of weeks until I go home from this 12 month deployment and the buying part went very smooth thank God cause I wouldn't of had the time to try and fix any issue. Murphinator Mine came with a full tank of gas and detailed to the max. It also had a soft top in boxes in the back. I call the dealer the next day and asked him if they like me so much that they gave me the soft top and he said that did not come with the jeep. He said the top went to another jeep by the numbers I gave him on the boxes. He told me he would send someone to my house to pick it up. The next morning he call and ask me if I could take it to him and he would top off my tank. So I drove my Dodge diesel and ask him if he would fill it up. He said they didn't have diesel, that next time I bring the Jeep in he will fill it up. They mail a free oil change so thats when I will fill it up.

candy803 The sales guy told us about the Mopar bucks, gave me 10 gallons of gas, and told me to bring it back in and he would get it cleaned. Gave me another JK to drive while they put on the side steps that I got with my Mopar bucks. They said I would owe $15 over the Mopar bucks, turned out when I picked it up I have $37 mopar bucks left! I'm getting the slush mats.

kgbuster Well I think my dealer experience tops all of the ones in this thread so far:

- there was no PDI. If there had, it might have prevented many of the problems.

- dealer explained nothing to me. I went in and signed the papers and he gave me the keys. That's it, that's all.

- I hopped in the jeep and drove it home, assuming (wrongly) that everything was in order.

zerokoo149 I bought mine over the weekend and was annoyed that the washer fluid reservoir was empty. Other then that it was spotless, they even changed the bumper because there was a flaw on the original one that they noticed when they were cleaning it.

steam Welcome. My dealer delivered my Jeep! The salesman had filled the gas tank and it was spotless. They had missed the rear mats but gave me a full set the following week. I was very happy with the dealer and unfortunately they have since closed.
Delivering any new car on Empty is customer relations suicide. The dealers need service revenue these days to stay alive, mistreating a new customer is plain dumb. Don't use them for service if you can find someone else.
A friend of mine brought a used Jeep and it came with half a tank of gas and no problems!

hdman1216 Mine was deliverd in GREAT shape and with the gas tank full. My only problem was the asshole finance manager. He almost cost the dealership the deal because of him high pressure BS. He would not shut up about paint and interior protection and extended warranties. I am a cash buyer and told him three or four time I didn't want anything extra. He just kept pushing and pushing. Finally I got up and told him to take his deal and shove it. The general manager heard the rucus and came over to save the deal but they came close to not selling the Jeep bucause of the idiot finance guy. Other than thay, I love my Jeep and drive it every chance I get.

Chris-Boston There were some really entertaining stories here so I figured it needed a bump :-) I found three 2010 Wranglers in my search this year and had problems with all of them (both minor and major). Sorry for the length!

The first...
Knew everything I wanted after a lot of research and a lot of browsing this forum. One of the dealers I test drove at found one 400 miles away with 30 miles on it, but said they couldn't flat bed it up because it was too close. I didn't want to take delivery with almost 450 miles on it, so bailed and continued my wait.

The second...
This one's a little fuzzy, I might be off on the days, but basically:

I finally found one local with about 30 miles on it. I took it for a 10 mile drive and negotiated my price that night. I was told I could pick it up the following Tuesday (Friday night drive, but long weekend). Tuesday came and I got a call first thing that it wouldn't be ready until Wednesday. No real reason given, but a lot of apologies.

On my ride to the dealership on Wednesday I got a call that there was a problem and it'd be another day. I was only a few minutes away so I went in anyway to see what the problem was. Apparently while they were detailing the Jeep, the Check Engine light came on and service was already gone.

On Thursday I called to see what the light was all about and they said it was a transmission issue and they'd have a new part in by Monday and it'd be ready then. Promised. Friday I called up early and told them I was bailing on the deal. I couldn't see paying this kind of money for a new Jeep that already needed service.

To be honest, I was both tired and excited when I was negotiating on the price, so I wound settling on $3,000 more than what I planned on paying for the Jeep, so I'm secretly glad it fell through.

The third...
I was almost ready to give up, but I continued to call around every few days to see what folks had coming in. I was pretty picky about the color and options (and apparently because Red Rock is a premium color or something it isn't around too much unless it's specifically ordered I was told).

Finally one of the Sales guys I had been in contact with emailed me to let me know they had a 2010 Red Rock Sahara in stock. I went to look at it but it was missing the soft top, the radio I wanted, and the remote start (sorry, I'm sure Radio's & Remote Starts aren't very Jeepish, lol). After very little negotiation I was able to get them all included and still be at the price point I wanted ($3k less than the last place).

The Good: The Sales Manager asked when I wanted to pickup the Jeep. I said tomorrow would be great if it's possible, and he says that if I can hang out for an hour, it'd be ready tonight (it's like 7pm at this point). Excited, I agree and hang out for an hour, mostly filling out paperwork anyway. Obviously the extras I wanted would be a bit longer.

The Bad: I went in the following weekend and had everything installed. By the time I got the hard top off a few days later I realized the soft top was not the OEM one that was in the manual or online. I really wanted the stock sunrider.

I sent a few emails and made a few calls to the sales guy, no answer. When I called the SM, he was extremely apologetic and assured me he'd take care of it. Two weeks later I had the right top and all was right with the world.

Samanator Add only one tag screw to the list. Then they want to know why I want to put the Mopar parts on myself. Would you let this crew put on a tow hitch?

Since my Toyota experience was not much better for the FJ I had this is about par for the area including Mercedes.

kik My 10 Rubi was delivered perfect. Detailed and the sales rep. spent at least 40 min. with us regarding all of the features. When he saw that there was "only" 3/4 of a tank he had me take him for a test drive to make sure everything was O'K and he topped off the tank. Better experiance than I had with BMW. Also received a coupon for a free oil & filter change. I guess it all depends on the individual dealer and their priorites. This is the second Wrangler I purchased from them and hopefully not the last.

Marcus Remember them on your survey.

I had a full tank of gas, a new spare tire cover and my favorite stations preset on the satelite radio.

Also received the first oil and filter change free.

burton160w That's bad news man, when I bought mine... used... from a private seller... for $1000 less then he originally asked he filled the tank, scrubbed it all out, and then threw everything Jeep related he could into the back. Tires were good. He was even going to wash it for me, but since it was late-Nov in NEPA I told him to not waste his time.

And while I haven't ever bought a new car, if I'm spending that much on something I'd better receive the top notch treatment before leaving. I can remember when my mom picked up her 1996 Ford Explorer when it was brand new and she argued for a 1/2 hour with the manager that she wanted the dealer decal removed from the back or she would go and cancel the cashiers check and take her business to another Ford dealership. Needless to say... that decal was off

gotrailin I think the PDI was there.. It was a late friday delivery.. Si I couldnt get anything done. Smelled new and all the fluids were perfect. Also got a full gas tank. It was just the loose lug nuts and then the different kind of lug nut. All 5 wheels had one or two different lug nuts..

TrueNorth Did you recieve a signed PDI from the dealer?
It's a mandatory Pre Delivery Inspection. Washer fluid and gas tank 1/2 full is on there. Lug nut tourque, tire pressure, oil level. etc.
I got one.
It has 70 or so things a licenced mechanic is "supposedly" going to inspect and sign off on before the jeep is delivered.


The empty tank would tick me off.

My tank was topped off to it's limit when I picked it up.
Detailed to the 9's with not a single fingerprint on it.
Washer fliud was full, everything on the PDI was checked off.

gotrailin Mine was delivered with the tire lug nut not tightened. Picked it up friday. Ans by Monday, The rim was useless as I out 200miles on it in that condition. Secondly noticed that the lug nuts were not the same. Discount tire got me the solution to that.. The rim was replaced free of cost by the dealer..
