Kate Does it have a regulator?
If so, check it.

have you tried cycling the key so that the check engine light flashes the codes to you. idk bout pep boys but i know autozone and advance in my part of va only has obdii scanners and no scanners for obdi which our jeeps use for diagnostics

yep all my issues started back in our odd winter. driving up the road jeep just cutoff. rolled it half out the road after tryin to pop the clutch before comin to a stop with 3 inches of snow on the highway. everthing appeared fine so i tried to start it and poof the dang fuse block next to the battery caught fire and burnt up the first foot of wiring harness and melting out 2 fuse portals. i cleaned them out and had everything but headlights and the alt wouldnt charger the battery so i used the straight wired offroad lights for headlights and carried my battery charger with me at all times. on occasion i would have to jump out and tape the fuel relay to make it run but ran like a top just no headlights or charging. got thru the "va blizzard"(lol) bought a harness hooked her up and have these issues

jeepn i was goin to scott but by the time i realized i somehow developed a saprk issue all the parts houses were closed shucks whats another 30 bucks maybe it will make all the difference i suppose now that everything but the coil and dist housing is new now the coil is showing as weak also forgot to mention that i even preformed brain surgery on it twice(just because after the fisrt time i saw no change) i have been considering rolling it out behind the garage and using it as a target for my AR and AK but havent tried rolling it off at all

the only thing i was coming to besides the coil, now that i have a spark issue unlike before,is the fuel pressure regulator but that small valve is 60 bucks

previously (before i had no spark) i was thinking possibly the jeep was only providing fuel at startup and not continuing to givefuel during run command

BBerry4430 I know I did that on mine and it had no effect. Not saying it wouldn't for Jeepn, but it made no difference for me.

scott howard heck i would buy a new coil.

jeepn just checked for spark coming directly out of the coil as the girlfriend hit the key i would get 2-5very very weak sparks then even as she continued to try and start the jeep it no longer had spark. next i took the coil wire leading out of the coil and inserted my testlight between the plug wire and the dist cap. once again i had 2-5 sparks that where very faint. so next i went to each cylinder and insert the test light between the wires and the plugs and got absolutely no spark on the test light

jeepn it has a timing chain that is gear drivenwhich has maybe 15 miles on it it was replaced becasue it had slack and was smacking the timing cover. checked timing today around lunch time. before and after replacing the cam position sensor dead on TDC. went out a bit ago to double check the trouble codes i was gettin 12 33 55 all nothing to be concerned with. decided to go ahead and try to start it again just for giggles. now i have absolutely NO spark anywhere what so ever just a few hours ago umm 4pmish(now 930pm)and had spark on all 4 cylinders decided to put new wires and plugs just to make sure they werent worn and losing voltage. right now im tryin to talk my gf into walking outside and hitting the key while i hook a test light straigh off the coil but im pretty certain there will be none grrr lighter in the pocket and backing up

IndyJeepMan Air to fuel ratio. If its off itll run lean and will not run for long, and if its running rich it will run rough.

Check to make sure your intake it good to go, and all is well on the injectors.

Kate Firs thing that comes to my mind is timing. Do those have a belt or a chain?
Could it have popped?

The next thing is, have you checked for spark on all four?

jeep will crank for days but never fire up

hello all maybe some jeep geared people and their experience could be of help to me i have a 1993 yj wrangler with a 2.5 4 banger and a 5 speed trans that will crank over strong as long as your wrist holds up to turn the key and the battery holds up. sometimes it sounds closer to starting to others. on occasion it will crank over and run briefly then die back out bout 35%of the time it will pop back thru the intake i have fuel pressure right around 36lbs when checked at the fuel rail. i have spark (checked with test light)on all four cylinders. i can spray starting fluid into the throttle body and it will run for a while even once ran for about 5 mins at 3000rpms(of course not on ether the whole time.i have dropped the tank and checked to see if the fuel pump will pump if its straight wired and it pumps like a charm.
i have replaced
the crank position sensor.
the distributor pickup.
the wires
the plugs
the dist cap
the button
the elctronic ignition swithch
the starter
cleaned the IAC valve
3 relays
been through all the fuses looking for bad ones
checked the grounds i could find. how many grounds are their to the body?
gas is not dead its in good shape
the optima red top is good as it will start every other vehicle i own

i am at wits end will this vehicle im starting to comtemplate rolling it down in the woods to rot if anyone would like to point me in anothert direction i will gladly go poke around some and thanks to anyone willing to read/put in your 2 cents
