This is what I get as well. Basically, no difference to the Cherokee I used to have. Both are great vehicle but the gas mileage is the drawback.

Ageless Stranger Mine is a 5 speed manual. Sorry I didn't post that before.

HealthyGIRL Wow you guys are awesome! Thank you for the speedy responses...you're right, I should have specified...it's an auto. I'm expecting a LITTLE bit worse gas mileage but hopefully nothing dramatically different. I hope I feel the same way as you enthusiasts about filling up and having fun with it. I think I will !

drivebytruckerz p.s. The poor mpg is a small trade off for being the owner of one of the best built, most reliable, funnest and most addicting vehicles on the face of the planet.. Just fill er up and enjoy the ride..

drivebytruckerz 14-16 no matter where, or how I drive it.

97-06 is the exact same drivetrain. The same 4.0 can also be found in earlier models through the 90's. It's not the engine so much as the body shape.. it's just not a sports car and not designed for airflow..

2000 Wrangler gas mileage??

Hey guys !

For anybody that has a 2000 Wrangler (Sport) 4.0L engine, I was wondering how good (or more like how bad) is this year on gas? Can anybody answer for if it is particulary better or worse than other years?

Thanks for any info
