Ageless Stranger Welcome to WF runner. Don't worry if it takes a while to find the perfect Jeep. It took my 4 months to find one.

cabnboy Welcome to the forum. Be patient and you'll know when you find the right one. I bought my '04 5 years ago and have never regretted it. The one thing I'd do different is NOT buy the 4 cylinder again. But, to be fair, I drive it every day in hilly southeast Tennessee near the Cherokee National forest and it's not that bad. Just wish it had more power on the interstate and the occasional times I need to get moving quickly.

Therunner This may belong somewhere else, but how do I test the 4WD on a used TJ or YJ (if that matters). I'm sure I will be looking at a jeep in someones driveway so off road testing is not going to be an option. How do I know if it is engaging and working properly?

bergy welcome to the forum... check out craigslist and see what you can find... dont rush it... find the one you want... i would go for a 4.0 if i were you but if you test a 2.5 and like it then go for that

G54 Welcome aboard! In addition to looking for a TJ with a 4.0 I suggest trying to find one with a Dana 44 rear axle. They aren't as common in a TJ but if you can find an Unlimited LJ it will have the D44 already.

JDsDream Welcome to WF. Your Jeep will show up. Just keep your eyes on Craig's List and Auto Trader. There is one out there for you. Happy hunting.

amberfire I wouldn't be scared of a 2.5, there's no hills in FL : ).... I would try to get a 97 or newer, I've owned a 79 and a 86 CJ-7, a 92 Wrangler and just got a 00 TJ. The TJ is the most comfortable, fun one yet (and I haven't even put tires on it yet)!

Therunner
Hello

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm from Tamarac (South) Florida and I have not bought a jeep yet but I'm looking. I have an automotive backround but never seemed to be in a position to buy a jeep. Now I am ! All I know is that it will be a used jeep, not too concerned about specific years, just having a hard time finding decent 4.0 instead of 2.5. Seems like there is alot more 4 cyls outh there. Anyone got a jeep to sell in FL? I'm buyin' LOL.
Guess that's enough babbling for now.
