|Freedom JK||My 2013 JK has a 2" lift and 33" tires and I love the look of it. It sits up high, but not too high.|

Just remember if you go over 3-3.5" you will need new driveshafts also. 2.5" is a good height because you can get 35's with the stock fenders.
Oh, and don't use that Quadratech thing, lemme find you a good link.

|mckey73||Here's what I did, in this order. Powertrax lock-right in the front diff, M.O.R.E. engine skid plate, cut the stock fenders and got some 35x12.5x15 BFG AT's on Level 8 trackers, installed a set of 3/4" coil spacers. My Jeep was just fine for awhile like that, then I sold my motorcycle and got a 2.5" Metalcloak gamechanger and a winch/front bumper. That's most of the big stuff, the rest is $200 here - $400 there F-O-R-E-V-E-R!|

Thanks all, i think i'll start with rock sliders/step and maybe interior things (slush mats, grab handles, seat covers) to get me through the winter.

I definitely agree with you about get it if you need it. I really just want a leveling kit and maybe some 33'' tires later on but my stock jku performs great in the mud and terrain so far. I can't complain.

|Breitling||I believe even stock Wrangler is very capable off-road, I would start with better tires and running boards missing on Sport. Keep in mind that increasing weight will decrease your mpg which is not perfect first place. Larger tires would need lift, lift is not perfect for smaller people you might be driving. Snorkeler, winch, etc - get it if you need, but think about first, will you be using them lot or just for drive around and show your cool looking Jeep to your friends? Most lifted, heavily modified Jeeps I know never been out of highways and regular roads ...|

OP, it would help if you would provide some details on what you are trying to accomplish and how you plan to wheel it.
In general the intake & exhaust will not provide much improvement on a 3.6. Most go with with larger tires first which depending on size can lead to a lift or leveling kit, fender mods and possibly wheels.

This may not necessarily be the best way, but it has worked for me. I started with armor (bumpers, rock rails, skids) and winch, while I learned to off-road with my jeep on the wooded trails, beach sand, and mud/water that we encounter in Florida, with a few more adventurous trips on hills and rocks. This way I felt that I could do self-recovery and prevent any extensive damage for the type of off-roading I was doing.
I then installed a 2.5" lift, flat fenders, and upgraded wheels/tires from my stock 32" KM mud tires to 35's. I also did gussets and a tire carrier. This allowed me to take on more challenging rocks and terrain I would have been reluctant to try previously, and in the meantime I was gaining experience and seat time.
Next, I'll be installing ARB lockers, 4.88 gears, and sleeves in a few weeks, courtesy of Santa, so I can increase my rock crawling capabilities. Also, driving with my 3.73 gears (3.8L/6sp) on 35's has been tolerable in the Florida flatlands, but it is painful on trips to the mountains, and on the rocks I've probably shortened the life of my clutch by a couple of years.
After that, my list will probably include replacing the ball joints, possibly tie rod, and LCA skids for additional protection. Also, being prepared to replace anything that breaks (driveshafts, axle shafts, etc.).
Longer term, maybe 37's and possibly replacing the axles, but that will be after my jeep is no longer my DD in 3-5 years.
Through all of this, my priority was slowly increasing my jeep's (and my) off-road capabilities first, the appearance of my jeep is secondary. If looks were more important, the type and order of upgrades would probably be different. If I had $10-15K to dump into the jeep right off the bat, I'd probably do things a little differently also.

|jadmt||bigger tires are going to require a lift of some sort whether it be a leveling kit or budget boost kit. It all starts costing money from there. I think tires are the best visible upgrade to start with. 33's look good 35's look better. how much do you want to spend is the question.|

2014 JKU Sport S upgrade questions
Hi all, I'm still new on here but I'm looking for input on the best way to take my 2014 JKU Sport S from stock to 'mine'. What parts would y'all upgrade first? (Bumpers > exhaust > intake/snorkel > lift/35s or 33s > rock sliders). Would the Dana 30 have to reinforced, 373 ratio be regeared, or any other ****** mods be necessary? Any input is welcome!
