|Riptide63||I had the one from Hidden Hitch on my last TJ. I wouldn't buy that one again, as the 2" receiver was closer to 2.25". Made for a really noisy ride anytime I hooked-up my utility trailer.|

|Jerry Bransford||IIFR correctly, a Class III is rated for 3500 lbs, 1500 lbs. more than what the TJ is rated to tow safely. I would consider a receiver hitch that is integrated into a bumper to be good for the TJ's 2000 lb. tow rating but not the 3500 lbs. of a Class III.|

Are all hitches that are integrated into the bumper class 3's?
i ask because on the websites i am looking at, don't tell you if it is a class 3 or not.

Just remember that hitches have different classes. The higher the class the more heavy duty it is. Here is a little blurb on it:
CLASS III TRAILER HITCHES
* Class III hitches are weight carrying (WC) and also are weight distributing (WD) depending on the vehicle and hitch specifications.
* Not all Class III hitches are rated to be both. See the specific hitch for that information.
* Class III hitches used as weight carrying are rated up to 6000 lbs. gross trailer weight (GTW) with a maximum trailer tongue weight (TW) of 600 lbs.
* Class III hitches used for weight distributing are rated up to 10,000 lbs. gross trailer weight (GTW) with a maximum trailer tongue weight (TW) of 1000 lbs.
* A Class III hitch usually has a 2" square receiver opening.
* A higher class drawbar does not increase the towing capacity of the hitch. To use this class of hitch for weight distribution requires a weight distribution system.
* Class III hitches attach to the vehicle frame only.
Note that the heaviest duty hitch you can get on a Wrangler is a Class III, but this hitch exceeds the towing capacity of the vehicle. Don't tow anything over its limit or you could get seriously hurt or die. Remember "Dying when your not sick is really sick you know"-Anyone guess the movie?
I use my hitch to carry my motorcycle on the back so I needed a class 3.

|Jma20a||i have a set of LoD bumpers and the rear has the integrated hitch and it works great, and its a fair price for what you get.|

|DevilDogDoc||Few bumper makers will certify their bumper hitches for towing, liability issues I suppose and to the OP "I wear my scars like the rings on a pimp" mean anything to ya?|

|Godluvsugly||can anyone recommended a good tow rated bumper hitch?|

|G-Pur||Good point Jerry. I was actually going to take my hitch off once I install me new rear bumper with the incorporated hitch. No point in having two.|

|Jerry Bransford||If you offroad on anything more difficult than a fire road, you would be much better off with a bumper mounted receiver hitch like you find integrated into bumpers like Olympic's Rock bumper. Both bolt-on hitches you ask about will drag on the terrain if you take your Jeep offroad but a hitch integrated into a bumper won't since it is higher up. I ran the Olympic bumper for 10+ years and used it to tow everything from my Waverunner to my pop-up tent trailer. It never dragged on the trails I enjoy, some of which are pretty extreme.|

|G-Pur||I have a drawtite, and have no complaints. Then again, I only use it for a bike rack.|

Looks like the Hidden Hitch/$120 model has two support braces that the DrawTite doesn't have. That might or might not make a difference on your Jeep.
If it were me, I'd go with the DrawTite. Name brand and a little cheaper.

Reciever hitch questions
hey guys i've decided to move and will need to tow some stuff and thus need to get a hitch on my 01 TJ. been looking at them on Quadratec and was wondering if i should go with the hidden hitch or the draw-tite. and also is the 120 dollar hitch much better than the 106 dollar one?
