CY99TJ Feel for a metal tube end under your battery tray, its on the vertical fender siding. This one seems to give the most trouble. Locate the rubber tube that should be loose near the area. Cut the hardened rubber back 1/2 inch and reconnect.

InfernoGirl Most common cause of this seems to be the vacuum thingy...

cabin_guy had the same prob in my 06.
On the passenger side you'll see a vacumum line that goes into the fire wall. This line also goes over to the drivers side in the engine compartment. about halfway up the engine on the drivers side there is a vacuum port it is supposed to plug into. I found the boot on my vacuum line was really sloppy when i put it on the port so I tightened a worm clamp around it, has worked fine ever since.

jamesdeanblvd Look up under the drivers side dash and move the lever. Follow it to the heater box. My control lever broke and wouldn't operate the door. Some people order a new lever, I just drilled and added a screw.

530ktm Most likely some type of vacuum leak. Sometimes they can be tricky to find. I had one that was under the battery tray and the metal tube had corroded a bit. A/C would stop blowing out the vents when I accelerated up hills.

Question on AC/HEAT Directional Control

Hi Guys,

I have a 2003 Wrangler Sahara, 87,000 miles. My AC works, but the directional control isn't working, it seems to only blow on the windsheild, and feet, nothing from the two centre vents, this is the same on heat and AC.

My question is, is this control electronic, or mechanical, could something of just come loose behind the dash board, is it an easy fix?

Also, a second question, I have cruise control, but that doesn't work properly either, the light comes on showing it is on, but the functions don't work, that is it doesn't cruise.

Thanks.

Damien
