Silent well i got the inside cleaned out. so now i gotta under the thing to scrap the rust off and rattle can the thing.. thats going to be fun.

tiny you should come and help me. and bring that steam vacum thingy.

and im still unsure about whats wrong with it but it runs so it doesnt need an engine. but i got a great deal on. its got a new exaust system in it, new ratiator, and new brakes. and the engine is going to be easy to fix. the only problem is that it came from michigan so its got some rust under the truck. the bodys fine. everyone keeps telling me to touch up the paint but screw that im going to destroy it anyways.

ill keep you updated.

Silent yeah i know alot of jeep guys arnt fans of ford but ive always been a ford Tough fan. and i like it because like i said it looks like the older broncos and they look sweet fixed up. and its good to hold me over before i get a jeep i can bum rides with you all. by buddy actually said i could get the engine fixed and cell it for twice as much as i bought if for. it runs so far and it sounds great. the 4x4 needs some electrical work its not reading when i hit it the button (yes a botton shut up!).

ill get some pix of it when i can for you guys to see it.

and im still looking for a jeep so let me know if anyone sees anything for a good price and is worth fixing up.

and what you mean a mustang engine?

and actually i was going to get a 94 or 95 mustang gt 5.0 but you all got me into 4 wheeling so i turned down the offers i had.

its late and im burt out so ill let you all no more about as it goes.

emills I am not personally a big fan of those older Exploders. But might I suggest, instead of trying to rebuild the motor, find the 5.0 out of a wrecked mustang and drop that in. Also, check out the Ford section over on Pirate4x4.com for some good tech.

its 94 ford explorer 4x4 the engine is shot so im going to be rebuilding!! yes!!

its the square bodys to so it looks kinda like the old broncos so i think thats pretty cool and its built FORD TOUGH!!

im pretty sure its leaf spring in the back though and thats noprob tho. i have lookd at explorer Forums and they look B**chin.

but!! i am still looking for a jeep. which once i get another job i will be getting one. think this thing can hold me over for a lil bit.

I fully agree with that. But when you go older, you also go to a carb and not EFI. There was one magic year that was both a solid front axle and EFI. I thought it was 86, but it might be 85.

I do gotta say though, my 89 4Runner that I had, while it was IFS, was still pretty amazing for a basically stock rig.

Silent thanks for the tip. i started looking at those. i didnt find something though! i gotta tow it home though. its a ford explorer 4x4 but the engine is kinda messed up. but thats no prob. when you got connections.. my neigbor is gonna hook me up with some parts. so we gotta look at it. i get pics of it tomorrow. but if that doesnt work i have a couple more to look at.

emills What other type of 4x4 you have in mind? Got one in particular that you have already looked at?
03-31-2007 05:50 PM
Silent im still getting a 4x4 truck tho so it dont matter im still fixing up something to take out with you guys. even if it isnt a jeep. you guys will just have to deal with it

RedRubiTJ I'm sorry .
03-31-2007 04:19 PM
Silent well i lookd at it... and its a peice of shit so i said NO! so
eric doesnt need to worry anymore. and Tiny

i am going to get something else next week for sure tho it was my second choice. but its not a jeep. but it is 4wd.

i put the key in and it say NO NO NO NO i dont wanna start. and then said ok ok fine ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

that thing was a metal tin can. the engine was not great at all it would have cost alot more to fix it than to buy it. that cherokee cost 500 tops! i wasnt puting that much money up that hunk of shit. i am mad that i had to drive all the way out there for a metal tin can tho. i would have been better off tying a tin sheet of metal on the back of tinys jeep and sitting on it.

RedRubiTJ That looks like a nice first Jeep. Miles are a little high, but if you have a prbolem with the engine in the future you can always stroke it. Limiteds are nice as well. XJ's don't have coils in the rear they have leaf springs. I was reading on www.naxja.com (the website I told you about) and it appears that many swap in V8 ZJ coils and chevy blazer leaf packs to give about 1.5-3". We can see what the WJ coils do and go from there.

Tiny has my cell phone number feel free to call. I will be home tomorrow but depending on time may or may not be able to leave.

Silent alright yea i will have no problem drivin it somewhere or meeting up with you to see what we can do with it... im not exactly sure what it has FULLY but im going to go look at it tomorrow and buy it if its worth it. from what i can see its worth it but i wanna make sure.. it has an I-6. 4x4 (of course) it is fuel injected so no worries about taking it off road.

that is the link for the one im looking at. and dont worry im planing on painting it. and whats the web sit you told me about again???

i will have better specs about it 2morrow and ill let you know.
and yea i have already lookd at at least lifting it 2". and ive lookd at 4wd.com for some stuff like that and there was lifts on there and just back coils and ect. so if we can get those to work that would be great. i also have a friend that works for a tire company. i think its american tires or something i dont remember exactly so hes going to get me some good BFGs for cheap.

let me know what you think about it the jeep if you look at it.

and yes we can make ERic watch the kids and be the waiter/ bus boy

Hey Silent!

To keep the other thread on topic, I thought I would throw a new one in here instead. Sorry Silent, I don't have any XJ parts around. It all went bye with the XJ 6 yrs ago. I never modded the XJ much either so my knowledge is a bit lacking, but I am sure we can figure it out. I would be more than happy to help you out with anything. I am reasonably certain we could drag Eric in as well to fetch tools, refill drinks or something .

I do still have a bunch of junk for a WJ and we might be able to get some of it to fit. I am just guessing but I think WJ front coils would give a lift to an XJ, then all you would need is the rear. I have a full set of stock WJ coils and a set of OME 2" WJ coils. They won't help in the rear as the XJ is leafsprung back there.

I do have some shocks around though and some of them might work as well. Let me look into it.

Now, none of this would give an exactly "sweet" ride as it would be rated for a V8 WJ (quite a bit heavier), but it might help get you up to clear some tires.

You never did give Eric and I the specs on the XJ you are looking at. We're very curious. Also did you take a look at that website I pointed you to? If yes, did you learn anything good yet?

-Chuck
