Bruck Right...Not to mention it was a Mopar harness that I bought. Umm....Way to push your accessories! Needless to say I was pretty disappointed.

This goes against all that is Jeep.

Bruck I just installed the harness for a hardtop that I got. Quadratec told me to buy the wrong harness. I attempted to make it work, but the pins were wrong for plugging into existing harnesses. Called the dealership and they were useless. The best part of it though was that I called Jeep to see if they could help. They put in a ticket with their technical questions team and I got a message about a week later. They said that they detected based on my VIN that my Jeep was sold as a soft top and they don't recommend making any modifications to the way that it was manufactured. Are you kidding me???? The moral of the story is don't call your dealer or Jeep.

Not sure if this helps or not, when I was having problems someone posted this:

tjay Just installed the mopar hardtop wiring harness on my 2000tj. The instructions were a joke. Had the get the service manual from chrystler to figure out everything. heres a link for the wiring diagram for the entire defogger system for a 2000tj from my pdf manual. not sure if its the same for a 2001. hope this helps

so for mine the pinout is
1: black to hardtop plug
2. Darkblue/lightgreen to i/p cluster
3. darkblue/red to fuse block
4. orange to heat/ac control

I'm looking for the same thing so I can trigger the defroster with the remote start... looks like i'll be spending some quality time with the multimeter...

bcbaker4399 I installed a Hard Top (Mopar) on my 2006 TJ. The instructions from Jeep were not that good. Lot's of pictures, and no words. The Defroster wiring has you tap into a hot line for power, but nothing tells you what wire to pick on. If anyone has a wiring detail the defroster and wiper, it would be appreciated.

2001 Wrangler TJ - rear defrost switch?

I am restoring a 2001 Wrangler TJ and bought a Bestop 2-piece hard top. The hard top has a rear defroster, which I want to wire to an OEM rear defroster switch.

Does anyone have a pinout diagram for the OEM rear defrost switch?

Thanks,
